Job description

We are currently seeking an Archaeology Crew Chief to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of field experience assisting in the supervision of archaeological field crews, with a preference for experience in the Mid-Atlantic region. Safety training will be provided, acceptable results on drug screens and background checks are required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Principal Investigators in leading field crews, particularly on Phase I level survey projects.
- Identify and record sites through pedestrian and shovel test survey methods.
- Prepare site maps and maintain safety protocols during fieldwork.
- Manage equipment, keep and organize field records, and contribute to the preparation of technical reports alongside Principal Investigators and the Laboratory Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A/B.S.) or higher in Anthropology or Archaeology with a certified archaeological field school.
- Experience in assisting with the direction of fieldwork for CRM projects, preferably in the Mid-Atlantic region.
- Familiarity with preservation laws, including the Section 106 process.
- Experience in analysis and technical report writing is advantageous.
- Knowledge or experience with Trimble GPS is a plus.

Estimated Base Pay Range: $27 - $29 per hour

How We Determine Pay: Final compensation within this range is determined in good faith and is based on objective factors. These include the candidate’s specialized skills, level of experience, geographic location, and specific educational background or certifications.

Additional Compensation: This position will be eligible for 401(k) matching and ownership through our ESOP and may also be eligible for incentive pay subject to company performance and performance-based raises.
