Job description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice On-Call Nurse to join our team at Butte Home Health & Hospice. As an on-call nurse you are working under the guidance of the Triage (Tele) Registered Nurse who will determine when visits are needed. As an on-call nurse, you will play a vital role in 
providing high-quality care and support to patients and their families during non-business hours. This position requires flexibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide timely response and assistance in urgent situations.

Job Type: Full Time On-Call 
Schedule: 7 days on, 7 Days off (Monday-Sunday) 
Hours: 5:30pm-8:30am 
Wages: Night standard rate: $232.50 + Hourly 
Hourly: $ 30- $35 Hourly

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary visit nurse for home health & hospice patients and their families during nonbusiness hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Conduct in-person visits and assessments as needed, addressing symptom management, pain control, and emotional support. Visits average around 2 per evening. A candidate wishing to get more evening hours may work with coordinators to schedule planned PRNs. 
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of care during on-call hours.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Document all patient interactions, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families during difficult times.

Qualifications

  • Valid nursing license in California and current CPR certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in hospice, palliative care, or a similar setting.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of symptom management and pain control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care and support.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and respond effectively in urgent and critical situations.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and basic computer skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of patients and families.
