What is a human test subject?

Human test subjects are individuals who voluntarily participate in scientific or medical studies to help researchers gather data on the effects of new drugs, treatments, or procedures. Their involvement is crucial for advancing medical knowledge and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of new interventions before they are widely used. Participation is typically regulated by ethical guidelines and overseen by institutional review boards to protect the health and rights of the subjects. Human test subjects may be compensated for their time and effort, and they are always given detailed information about the study and any potential risks before agreeing to participate.

What does a human test subject do?

Human test subjects take part in an experiment or clinical trial to help researchers and scientists measure the effectiveness of a product or to test ideas and collect information for a scientific study. Your duties as a test subject depend on the type of tests that researchers perform. In a drug trial or mental health study, you take medication or undergo experimental treatment while researchers monitor your progress and measure the results. Other researchers gather human test subjects to conduct studies on marketing and consumer behavior. NASA uses test subjects to investigate the effectiveness of equipment or perform ground-based research.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a human test subject, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Human Test Subject, you generally need good physical and mental health, reliability, and the ability to follow detailed instructions, often verified by medical screenings and informed consent processes. Familiarity with basic data collection tools and a willingness to adhere to study protocols are also important, and some studies may require specific health or demographic qualifications. Strong communication skills, patience, and attention to detail make candidates stand out in this role. These qualities are crucial to ensure accurate data collection, participant safety, and the overall success and integrity of the research study.

What are some common challenges faced by human test subjects, and how can they prepare for them?

Human test subjects often face challenges such as adapting to unfamiliar environments, following strict study protocols, and managing potential side effects or discomfort from procedures. It's important to thoroughly review study requirements, communicate openly with research staff, and ask questions about any concerns. Being prepared mentally and physically, as well as understanding your rights and the study's safety measures, can help ensure a positive and safe experience.

Job description

Are you a bilingual HRIS professional who thrives at the intersection of technology and people? Do you enjoy translating complex system configurations into real business outcomes-and can you do it seamlessly in both Spanish and English?
Printpack is looking for a bilingual HRIS Analyst to join our Human Resources team and serve as a critical technology partner between our U.S. and Mexico operations. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our digital HR transformation, supporting and configuring our Workday platform while enabling cross-border collaboration that drives our business forward.
This isn't just an analyst role-it's an opportunity to shape how a growing, multinational organization leverages HR technology to deliver unified, data-driven people solutions across geographies.
What You'll Do
  • Serve as a technical liaison with Printpack Mexico, providing Workday support, configuration, and consultation - fully in Spanish and English
  • Configure and optimize Workday within assigned functional areas, translating business needs into technical solutions
  • Lead system testing and deployment of new or enhanced functionality, including semi-annual Workday releases and regression testing
  • Drive process improvement by identifying opportunities for system optimization, automation, and emerging technology integration (including AI tools)
  • Develop and deliver bilingual training materials and documentation to support change management and knowledge transfer across both U.S. and Mexico teams
  • Ensure data integrity and security in compliance with Printpack's Information Security policies and data protection standards
  • Build advanced reports and dashboards and cross-train in additional Workday functional areas for backup and expanded capability

What You Bring
Required:
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal), particularly in communicating technological concepts, system processes, and technical documentation
  • Experience in Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Hands-on experience with Workday (Production or Implementation setting)
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Technical expertise in HRIS configuration and administration
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Comprehensive understanding of HR processes, systems, tools, and metrics

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Workday Pro Certification in one or more functional areas
  • Awareness of emerging AI technologies and their application to HR systems
  • Experience with additional HRIS platforms (e.g., UKG Pro, Oracle PeopleSoft, SAP SuccessFactors, DayForce, or ADP Lyric/Vantage HCM/SmartCompliance)

What Sets This Role Apart:
This position is uniquely designed for a bilingual technology professional who can:
  • Communicate complex Workday configurations and system processes in Spanish - not just conversationally, but with technical precision
  • Bridge two business units by unifying system configurations, reporting, and support across the U.S. and Mexico
  • Directly contribute to a high-impact payroll integration project that will position Printpack for long-term cross-border technological excellence
  • Explore and apply emerging technologies, including AI and automation, to continuously improve HRIS processes

Work Environment & Details:
  • Classification: Salary Exempt
  • Location: Atlanta - Hybrid; in-office requirements
  • Travel: Minimal, as needed
  • Reports to: HR Systems Manager II
  • Occasional off-hours work to support business initiatives
  • Must be 18+ and pass pre-employment screening (drug test, background check)
  • Internal candidates must demonstrate Core Values and maintain excellent standing

Why This Role Matters:
Printpack is on a journey to become a more mature digital organization, and our Workday platform is at the center of that transformation. As our HR systems grow in complexity and capability, we need dedicated technical talent to drive configuration excellence, ensure data integrity, and unlock the full value of our HRIS investment.
In this role, you'll directly shape how Printpack leverages Workday-optimizing processes, deploying new functionality, building advanced reporting capabilities, and exploring emerging technologies like AI and automation to keep us ahead of the curve. You'll be a go-to technical resource for functional areas across the business, helping subject matter experts turn their needs into real, working solutions.
Your bilingual skills add a powerful dimension to this impact: you'll ensure our Printpack Mexico business unit receives seamless technical support and consistent system experiences-including contributing to an in-progress payroll integration that requires coordination between Mexico HR, Finance, and our Atlanta-based teams. But at its core, this role is about advancing HR technology for the entire organization.
