Founded in 1928, Dignity Health - St. Bernardine Medical Center is a 342-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in San Bernardino, California. Serving nearly 100,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level III NICU, heart care, stroke care and orthopedics. Additionally, St.Bernardine Medical Center has been recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. It is a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center and was recently awarded AMA/ASA’s Get the Guidelines - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement, recognizing the hospital’s commitment to providing the best stroke care. As our Clinical Lab Scientist, you will be a critical diagnostic expert, performing complex laboratory tests to ensure accurate, timely results vital for patient diagnosis and treatment.
 
Every day, you will execute a wide range of analytical procedures across various lab disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.). You'll analyze specimens, operate/maintain instruments, interpret results, and conduct quality control, providing crucial data for clinical decisions.
 
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate a strong scientific foundation, advanced technical proficiency, exceptional problem-solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail. Your paramount commitment will be to accuracy and regulatory adherence.
  • Receive and evaluate clinical specimens, ensuring quality and adherence to testing protocols.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative testing following approved policies and procedures.
  • Review test results for accuracy, medical relevance, and compliance before releasing reports.
  • Communicate critical values promptly and document actions taken.
  • Perform quality control, instrument maintenance, and troubleshooting as required.
  • Maintain reagent inventory and participate in proficiency surveys.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and remain current with departmental updates, policies, and procedures.

Required:

  • One year experience working as a generalist in an acute hospital clinical laboratory
  • State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License
  • Bachelor's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.
