Click here for more information.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nIn your role as a Legislative And Administrative Advisor 2, in consultation with the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities Legal\r\nDivision, you will perform a full range of legal work, including:\r\n\r\n Researches and assists in matterspertaining to legislation, regulations and administrative policy;\r\n Drafts proposedlegislation and regulations and oversees adoption of regulations;\r\n Provides assistance toagency staff in implementing newly enacted legislation and regulations; interpretsstatutes and regulations;\r\n Assists in developing budget proposals for consistency withstatutes and regulations; may serve as agency advocate in administrative proceedings;\r\n Coordinate and schedule meetings with legislators and other stakeholders regarding\r\n proposed legislation (CHRO and other entities);\r\n Coordinate with staff regarding agencystance on proposed legislation; Draft testimony based on agency position;\r\n Bill trackingand follow up with chairs and stakeholders on agency legislative agenda items;\r\n Implement new legislation including, but not limited to, creating new forms, public\r\n outreach, training;\r\n Educate agency and/ or public on new legislation;\r\n Participate/coordinate in outreach and education;\r\n Handle constituent inquiries;\r\n Draftpress releases based on current legislation and news events;\r\n Coordinate press eventsand establish a media database;\r\n Coordinate meetings with allies and adversaries asneeded;\r\n Organize/draft required agency statutory regulations and statutes;\r\n Performsrelated duties as required.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nAbout the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities:\r\nOur mission is to eliminate discrimination through civil and human rights law enforcement and to establish equal opportunity and justice for all persons within the state through advocacy and education.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nThe Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities has the responsibility to review, monitor and enforce the equal opportunity, affirmative action and contract compliance laws of the state as they apply to contractors (including subcontractors and suppliers to contractors) who do business with the state. PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency this class is accountable for independently performing work, conducting research and advising the Commissioner or Department Headon matters pertaining to legislation, regulations and administrative policy and agency communications and public relations.\r\n

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n Experience of relevant state and federal laws, statutes and regulations;\r\n Experience in basic law, legal processes, legal principles and practices and administrative law;\r\n Experience with legal research techniques;\r\n Experience with legislative process; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills;\r\n Experience interpreting, analyzing and preparing legislation and other legal documents.\r\n Two (2) years of experience as an attorney with some responsibility for research, development, planning and review of legislative and regulatory programs; or a combination of four (4) years education/experience demonstrating ability to interpret statutes and regulations, advising on regulatory compliance, drafting policies, procedures or regulatory language and/or coordinating with lawmakers.\r\n\r\n
