Why Join AVB?

At AVB, our HR team plays a critical role in shaping the employee experience and supporting leaders across a fast-paced, people-first organization. We’re looking for a hands-on HR Generalist who enjoys balancing day-to-day ownership with meaningful employee and manager support. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants ownership of the hiring and onboarding process, while continuing to grow into broader HR responsibilities.

About the Role

This role serves as the primary owner of recruiting and onboarding, while also acting as a key HR partner to employees and managers. You’ll focus on delivering a strong candidate and new hire experience, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency across all hiring and onboarding processes. In addition, you’ll provide day-to-day HR support, helping managers and employees navigate people-related matters with practical, people-focused guidance.

Recruiting & Hiring

  • Lead and manage the full-cycle recruiting process in partnership with hiring managers
  • Ensure a consistent, efficient, and positive candidate experience
  • Support hiring decisions through screening, coordination, and interview process guidance
  • Oversee recruiting workflows, with administrative support for scheduling, postings, and tracking
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines, including internship programs, career fairs, and community partnerships
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning and hiring priorities

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Own and continuously improve the onboarding experience to ensure strong employee integration
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring consistency, timeliness, and compliance
  • Partner with HR Operations support for execution of onboarding logistics and system setup
  • Ensure all documentation, workflows, and checklists are completed accurately and on time
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the new hire experience and early employee engagement

Employee Relations & Manager Support

  • Serve as a primary HR resource for managers and employees
  • Provide guidance on performance management, policy interpretation, and employee concerns
  • Support corrective action processes and documentation
  • Identify and address employee issues early, escalating complex matters as needed

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits questions and guidance
  • Support employees in navigating benefit plans and leave processes
  • Ensure benefits and leave processes are executed accurately in partnership with HR Operations support
  • Support open enrollment and benefits-related initiatives

Compliance, HRIS & Administration

  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and company policies
  • Ensure HR documentation and processes are accurate and audit-ready
  • Oversee HRIS data integrity and workflow effectiveness
  • Support policy updates and employee communications

HR Operations & Projects

  • Drive consistency and effectiveness across recruiting and onboarding processes
  • Prioritize and manage day-to-day HR responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Identify and implement improvements to hiring, onboarding, and HR workflows
  • Support employee engagement and culture initiatives

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means onboarding and offboarding processes run smoothly and consistently, creating a positive experience for employees at key transition points. Managers feel confident and supported in handling employee matters, and HR data, documentation, and compliance processes are accurate, organized, and up to date. You build strong, trusted relationships across departments and proactively identify opportunities to improve HR processes and enhance the overall employee experience.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 3+ years of progressive HR experience, with exposure to employee relations and compliance
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices and applicable employment laws
  • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office

Preferred

  • HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP)
  • Demonstrated experience with full-cycle recruiting processes
  • Experience in construction, trades, or similarly fast-paced, operations-driven environments
  • Experience supporting leaders across multiple departments or locations
  • Exposure to employee relations, benefits administration, and/or leave management

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $60,000 – $75,000 (based on experience)
  • Bonus eligibility
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and holidays

Work Environment

This role operates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment supporting both office and field teams. Work is primarily performed in an office setting with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer using standard equipment.
