General Description:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for executing and overseeing the firm's day-to-day HR operations. This role blends tactical execution with team leadership, process improvement, and operational oversight. The Human Resources Manager partners closely with HR leadership, department heads, office managers, and HR team members to deliver high-quality, responsive, and compliant HR services.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and Support HR Operations Team
    • Manage and develop the HR Operations team, providing day-to-day oversight, coaching, and performance guidance, while leading through a collaborative, responsive, and customer service-oriented approach that fosters strong partnerships with managers and employees.
    • Support daily HR operations to ensure timely, accurate, and consistent customer service.
  • Execute Core HR Processes
    • Perform and oversee key processes including background checks, Workday transactions, onboarding and offboarding, timecard administration, employment verifications, and employee engagement activities.
    • Ensure high standards of accuracy, responsiveness, and customer service across HR operations.
  • Employee Experience & Support
    • Manage onboarding, new hire orientation, offboarding, and exit interviews to ensure a positive and seamless employee experience.
    • Assist in providing guidance on complex, sensitive, and confidential HR matters, exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; monitor regulatory updates and implement necessary changes.
    • Oversee I-9 processing, work authorization tracking, and coordination with immigration counsel.
    • Manage unemployment claims and ensure timely, compliant responses.
    • Prepare and/or review regulatory filings (e.g., EEO-1, pay data reporting).
  • HR Systems & Data Integrity
    • Oversee maintenance of centralized electronic personnel files.
    • Conduct regular audits of data in HRIS system to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Training & Engagement
    • Design and deliver training on HR policies, procedures, and compliance topics, as needed.
    • Lead employee engagement initiatives, including staff appreciation and recognition programs.
  • Process Improvement & Projects
    • Identify and implement improvements to HR processes, workflows, and systems to enhance efficiency and service quality.
    • Lead or contribute to HR projects such as system enhancements and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Professional Standards
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.
    • Demonstrate reliability through consistent presence, engagement, and responsiveness during business hours.
  • Expected to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full attention to and engagement in work activities on behalf of the firm during business hours unless otherwise approved or required by applicable law.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field required.
  • 5-7+ years of progressive HR experience with a balance of operational and strategic responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to leverage these tools in day-to-day operations.
  • Experience with Workday or similar HRIS platforms.

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • HR certification (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or lead role strongly preferred.
  • Law firm or professional services experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
