Job description

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.

Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.

Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.

This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.

We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.

What You’ll Do
  • Build from zero to one: Stand up and scale People infrastructure in a fast-growing, early-stage environment
  • Partner with the business: Serve as the trusted advisor to leaders, building the relationships, respect, and influence needed to guide fast-moving decisions toward the right long-term outcomes.
  • Workforce planning and org design: Drive headcount planning and organizational design, and solve hard expansion-related problems across a growing exempt and hourly workforce.
  • Support a global team: Support client groups across multiple countries as a US-based partner, working alongside local HR resources and through PEO / EOR arrangements where we are not the legal employer of record.
  • Scale an hourly workforce: Help build the foundation for a high-volume hourly driver and field population, including shift, site, safety, and compliance dynamics, as we bring that function in house.
  • Retention and engagement: Use data to diagnose attrition, build engagement, and create structure where there is currently chaos.
  • Employee relations and compliance: Serve as a point of contact for employee concerns, provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws.
What We’re Looking For
  • Roughly 7+ years of HR / People experience, with a track record of outpacing your tenure.
  • A hands‑on, scrappy builder who is energized by ambiguity and excited to lean in and create structure in an early‑stage environment.
  • Experience scaling a People function through high growth, ideally supporting a combined exempt and non‑exempt workforce.
  • Experience supporting client groups in more than one country as a US-based leader; familiarity with PEO / EOR models is a plus.
  • Strong cross‑functional partner who builds trust with technical and operating leaders and can guide them toward the right outcomes.
  • Familiarity with US employment law and a strong attention to detail.
  • Thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment and moves quickly without losing rigor.
What Else You Need To Know

This role is based in our San Francisco office. Atoms is a company driven by invention and continuous change – we are constantly reimagining our industries, building new products, and refining how we operate. We do our best work together. That’s why all of our office‑based teams work onsite, five days a week.

The base salary range for this role is $170,000 – $200,000 per year.

Actual compensation will be determined on an individual basis and may vary depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package. You may also be eligible for equity awards and an annual performance‑based bonus.

Benefits Summary (USA Full‑Time Exempt Employees)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (multiple plans, incl. HSA options).
  • Company‑paid life and disability insurance (short‑ and long‑term).
  • Voluntary insurance: accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity.
  • Optional supplemental life insurance for self, spouse, and children.
  • 401(k).
  • Health Savings Account (HSA).
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (Healthcare, Dependent Care, Commuter).
  • Discretionary vacation days.
  • 8 paid holidays per year.

Benefits are subject to change at the company's discretion.

Atoms accepts applications on an ongoing basis.

As set forth in ATOMS Careers page’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.
