Position Description

We are seeking a strategic and hands‑on Human Resources Director to lead all aspects of the company's HR function. This role is responsible for developing and executing HR strategies that support ECS’s continued growth while fostering a high-performance, employee‑focused culture. The HR Director serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and managers, ensuring compliance with employment laws, developing talent, improving employee engagement, administering compensation and benefits, and building scalable HR processes for a growing commercial HVAC contractor. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable developing long‑term HR strategy and handling day‑to‑day employee relations and operational HR responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

HR Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with:

Safety & Risk Management
  • Partner with Safety leadership on workers' compensation claims.
  • Assist with return-to-work programs.
  • Support OSHA compliance initiatives.
  • Promote a strong culture of workplace safety.
Employee Relations
  • Foster a positive workplace culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and employee development.
  • Investigate employee concerns and workplace issues.
  • Coach managers on employee performance, conflict resolution, and disciplinary matters.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies.
Performance Management
  • Develop and manage the company's performance evaluation process.
  • Partner with department leaders to establish performance expectations.
  • Assist managers with coaching, documentation, and performance improvement plans.
  • Coordinate annual performance review cycles.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Assist with salary administration and compensation programs.
  • Conduct market compensation analyses as needed.
  • Administer employee benefit programs including health insurance, retirement plans, PTO, wellness initiatives, and leave programs.
  • Partner with leadership during annual benefit renewals.
  • Partner with Payroll and Accounting to ensure accurate employee data.
  • Maintain Paylocity HRIS and employee records.
  • Recommend improvements to HR technology and reporting.
  • Ensure HR data integrity and confidentiality.

Requirements

The following qualifications along with individuals’ previous work experience will be considered by the company when evaluating applicants:

  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • 5+ years in an HR leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience supporting multi-department organizations.

  • Strong conflict resolution and coaching abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
Preferred
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification.
  • Experience within commercial construction, HVAC, manufacturing, or skilled trades.
