Job description

STUDENT PROGRAM FORMAT 

This student program will follow an in-person model. Students will be based at a Stellantis manufacturing facility in the Metro-Detroit area and are expected to work on-site 3 to 5 days per week, depending on business needs. Students are expected to work 24 hours per week, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Candidates who are selected for the program will work with their manager to determine a consistent weekly work schedule where candidates fulfill the 24-hour requirement, while balancing their class schedule. During the summer months, student employees may potentially work 40 hours per week. This determination will be at management’s discretion. Applications are accepted year-round, and student program cohorts start on a quarterly basis in January, April, June, and September, and students are intended to stay in the program until graduation.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS 

Join our Human Resources (HR) team as a Labor Relations student employee, where you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for students interested in labor relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture within a unionized setting.  

Key responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the administration and interpretation of collective bargaining agreements. 
  • Support grievance tracking and resolution processes. 
  • Help facilitate positive management/union relations through communication and documentation. 
  • Participate in attendance program administration and reporting. 
  • Assist with workplace investigations and compliance tracking. 
  • Support data analysis and trend reporting to inform labor relations strategies. 
  • Collaborate with HR and operations teams to promote a fair and consistent workplace. 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Pursuing a bachelors degree or higher in Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university 
  • Willing to work in a manufacturing environment 
  • Ability to work 24 hours per week, year-round 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Strong interest in labor relations, conflict resolution, and workplace culture 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
