Labcorp is seeking a Grossing Technologist Trainee to join our team in Mobile, AL.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4:00PM

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides
  • Specialize in the accurate gross description and dissection of surgical specimens
  • Diagram pertinent gross specimens as necessary
  • Prepare sections of human tissue for pathologist diagnostic study
  • Operate laboratory instruments to properly display specimens
  • Perform equipment maintenance as needed
  • Record equipment log data in an accurate and timely manner
  • Comply with applicable safety procedures and protocol
  • Effectively communicate with histology team members
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • 3 months or more of grossing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
