Job Description Summary

The Environmental Manager leads and manages regulatory compliance activities for the Mobile Site. This position ensures full compliance with all local, state, and federal EHSSQ regulations and internal Evonik standards, including all permitting, reporting, auditing, agency interaction, and Responsible Care elements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, security, and quality regulations including EPA, RCRA, OSHA, PSM, CWC, and Responsible Care standards.
  • Lead environmental compliance programs, corrective actions, and regulatory communications for the Mobile Site.
  • Manage all environmental permitting, reporting, and testing activities, including air, water, waste, TRI, Tier II, RMP, and bi-annual reports.
  • Responsible for leading and developing a team of 6 (direct reports).
  • Lead EHSSQ audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives across site operations.
  • Develop and execute site EHSSQ strategies aligned with corporate and regional requirements to maintain license to operate.
  • Provide environmental status updates, liabilities, and compliance recommendations to Plant Management.
  • Lead incident investigations, spill response, remediation activities, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop EHSSQ team capabilities and deliver environmental/compliance training to site personnel.
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies, community leaders, and external stakeholders while supporting compliant site operations and expansions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required; chemical engineering or environmental discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of chemical industry/governmental agency experience preferred with extensive environmental compliance exposure.
  • 5 years supervisory experience with proven talent development capability preferred.
  • Expertise in at least one environmental reporting area; broad knowledge of all major regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage operational and Capital budgets.
