Job description

Part-Time Early Intervention Specialist

Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to provide home-based, family-centered early intervention services to infants, toddlers, and their families. The Early Intervention Specialist partners with families to support child development, strengthen caregiver capacity, and connect families with resources that promote positive outcomes. Services are provided in natural environments, including homes, childcare settings, and community locations throughout the assigned service area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide developmental and early intervention services to eligible infants, toddlers, and their families.
  • Partner with families to identify strengths, concerns, priorities, and goals for their child.
  • Conduct developmental evaluations, screenings, and ongoing progress monitoring.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) and support family-centered outcomes.
  • Coach and educate caregivers on strategies that promote learning, development, and participation in everyday routines.
  • Coordinate services with healthcare providers, educators, therapists, and community agencies.
  • Assist families in identifying and accessing community resources and support services.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with state and program standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Travel within the assigned service area to provide services in homes, childcare settings, and community locations.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Social Work, Human Development and Family Science, or a closely related field.
  • Program emphasis, training, practicum, or experience related to early childhood development, developmental disabilities, or family-centered services.
  • Active North Dakota licensure, certification, or credentialing as applicable.
  • Valid North Dakota driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience providing Early Intervention or early childhood services.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, children with developmental delays or disabilities, and their families.
  • Knowledge of child development, family-centered practices, coaching strategies, and community resources.

  • Physical ability to sit on the floor, kneel, bend, lift and carry therapy materials or children as appropriate, and actively engage with infants and toddlers during home visits.

  • Flexibility to work with families whose schedules may include early mornings, evenings, or occasional schedule changes.
