Job description

Coffee Shop Manager

Location: Houston, Texas

Salary: $60K - $72K

Position Overview

Our patisserie is where craft meets care. Every morning starts with the smell of fresh croissants, the hum of the espresso machine, and a team that takes pride in getting the details right. We're looking for a Coffee Shop Manager who can lead that energy, keep our standards high, and make every guest feel like a regular.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows specialty coffee, respects great pastry, and loves building a team that runs like clockwork. If you've spent your career in cafรฉs or restaurants and want a place where quality and culture actually matter, keep reading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run daily operations. Oversee opening, service, and closing to keep the floor smooth, the line moving, and the experience consistent from the first cup to the last.
  • Lead and develop the team. Hire, train, and coach baristas and front-of-house staff. Build a culture where people show up, grow, and want to stay.
  • Manage inventory and costs. Handle ordering, par levels, waste, and vendor relationships to protect margins without cutting corners on quality.
  • Hold the line on quality. Maintain standards for espresso, brew, milk technique, and pastry presentation so every product leaves the counter right.
  • Own the guest experience. Set the tone for service, respond to feedback, and turn first-time visitors into loyal regulars.
  • Keep it safe and compliant. Ensure the shop meets all health, safety, and labor regulations, including food handling and cleanliness standards.
  • Partner with the pastry and culinary team. Coordinate on daily offerings, seasonal items, and pairings so the coffee and the case work together.

Qualifications

  • 3โ€“5 years of coffee shop, cafรฉ, or restaurant management experience
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and keeping good teams
  • Solid knowledge of specialty coffee, brewing methods, and pastry products
  • Proficiency with POS systems, scheduling tools, and basic inventory software
  • Clear, direct communication and a guest-first mindset
  • Flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and the craft behind it

Why You'll Want to Be Here

We're not just selling coffee and pastries. We're building a place people look forward to every day, and that starts with the person leading the room. As our Coffee Shop Manager, you'll have the freedom to shape the team, raise the bar, and grow with us.

We offer competitive compensation, real paths for advancement, and a culture that respects your time outside of work. Long hours and burnout aren't the badge of honor here. Doing great work with great people is.

If you're ready to lead a shop that takes both craft and culture seriously, we'd love to meet you. Send us your resume to jay@geckohospitality.com for immediate review and consideration.

Warm Regards,
