Huddle Up information

How does participating in a huddle up meeting support team collaboration and productivity?

Participating in a 'Huddle Up' meeting, often called a daily or weekly team huddle, fosters open communication and alignment among team members. These short, focused meetings give everyone a chance to share updates, discuss priorities, and quickly address any roadblocks. By regularly checking in, team members are more likely to stay on track with their goals, resolve issues collaboratively, and maintain a positive, energetic work environment. This structure also strengthens relationships and helps new members integrate more smoothly into the team.

What is the difference between Huddle Up vs Scrum Master?

Huddle Up focuses on facilitating quick team check-ins and communication, often without formal certifications. Scrum Masters lead Agile teams, ensuring Scrum practices are followed and obstacles are addressed, usually requiring certifications. While both roles promote team collaboration, Scrum Masters have a broader scope in Agile project management.

What is a huddle up?

A Huddle Up in the workplace refers to a brief, regular meeting where team members gather—often standing—to quickly discuss goals, share updates, and address any immediate concerns. These meetings are typically short, lasting 10-15 minutes, and help keep everyone aligned and motivated. Huddle Ups can improve communication, foster collaboration, and ensure that any obstacles are identified early so the team can work efficiently together.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a huddle up facilitator, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Huddle Up Facilitator, you need strong group leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills, often supported by experience in coaching, teaching, or team management. Familiarity with collaboration tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or specialized facilitation software is important. Emotional intelligence, adaptability, and active listening help facilitators engage participants and foster positive group dynamics. These skills ensure productive, inclusive discussions that drive team cohesion and effective decision-making.

Job description

SHIFT MANAGER | Full-Time & Part-Time | Denver Metro | $21.27/hr + Tips
THE SHIFT IS YOURS. OWN IT.
At Sankofa, the Shift Manager runs the floor, sets the tone, and makes sure every guest interaction meets our standard.
Sankofa Smoothies is a top 2% Smoothie King franchise, the #1 operator in Colorado, and a Certified Training Store. We promote from within and pay based on performance.
We’re not looking for someone to fill a shift. We’re looking for someone who makes the shift better.
You’ll lead 3–4 team members per shift, own the guest experience, coach in real time, and keep the store ready from open to close.
Now hiring for our Northfield and DTC locations.
IS THIS THE RIGHT FIT?
This role is for you if:
  • You lead from the front — you’re in the rush with your team, not calling plays from the sideline.
  • You bring steady energy on slow days and rushes.
  • You own your outcomes instead of waiting to be told what to do next.
  • You make the call when the answer isn’t obvious, and you own what comes from it.
  • You can commit to weekends and holidays.

This role is not for you if:
  • You manage by announcement and check in after the fact.
  • Your mood becomes the team’s problem.
  • Accountability feels like pressure instead of ownership.
  • You need everything spelled out before you’ll act.
  • You only lead when someone’s watching.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Every shift, you own the floor.
You’ll run the huddle, position the team, protect the guest experience, coach in the moment, correct drift before it compounds, make it right when something goes wrong, and leave the store ready for the next shift.
You’ll also communicate issues early — store needs, team member performance, guest concerns, maintenance, or anything leadership needs to know.
WHAT WE EXPECT:
  • Prior supervisory or shift leadership experience in a fast-paced environment; QSR strongly preferred.
  • ServSafe Manager Certificate required before running solo shifts. You do not need it on day one if you are otherwise a strong fit.
  • Weekend and holiday availability required.
  • Reliable attendance: showing up as scheduled, communicating early when issues arise, and following attendance expectations.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Top candidates have led under pressure, coached in real time, made decisions without perfect information, and held standards without needing someone watching.

WHAT YOU’LL EARN:
  • Base pay starts at $21.27/hr plus tips.
  • Raises are tied to certification gates and performance benchmarks, not tenure. Certification areas include inventory and ordering, catering, training, and interviewing.

BENEFITS & PERKS:
  • Free smoothie every shift.
  • 30% employee discount.
  • $100/month health stipend.
  • Revenue Share Bonuses
  • 401(k) with match.
  • PTO up to 2 weeks/year.
  • Paid training.
  • Referral bonuses.
  • Growth path into operations, people, marketing/growth, or district leadership.

SCHEDULE & AVAILABILITY:
Shifts include opens, mids, and closes. Weekend availability is required. Part-time and full-time roles are available, with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
HOW TO APPLY:
We’re selective because this role matters. We would rather find the right Shift Manager than fill the schedule with the wrong one.
  • Apply online.
  • Complete a short questionnaire by text.
  • Submit a short video interview.
  • Join an in-store leadership conversation.
  • If it’s a fit, we move quickly to offer and onboarding.

If the IS / IS NOT section sounded like you — not as a goal, but as a description — apply today.
