Job description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for developing and updating new base home plans and options within our carious software packages. An individual in this position will participate in the entire plan and option development. Responsibilities include development of business requirements logical data and process flow designs, project schedules and implementation plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops and maintains base plans in construction software system.
  2. Implements and administers new and current system updates/upgrades.
  3. Trains all Home Company employees and vendors for use of software systems.
  4. Analyzes bids and takeoffs to ensure appropriate builder cost is calculated when working with base home and option assemblies.
  5. Stays current with all system updates and trends. Attends training when required.
  6. Creates option assemblies based on requests from management, sales, purchasing, estimating and design.
  7. Creates and maintains items in estimating cost database.
  8. Acts as a liaison with vendors, requesting new or updated bids or clarification of items an costs for entry into the software system. Analyzes historical data with vendor – submitted bids to ensure accurate payment.
  9. Creates takeoffs for plan updates and development using estimating software.
  10. Develops and maintains excel spreadsheets and Word documents for compiling and documenting historical data of plans.
  11. Exports quantities and costs of plans for sales pricing by having the system calculates cost and margin within each community.
  12. Attends and actively participates in plan review meetings.
  13. As systems expert, uses knowledge to guide decisions and acts as a resource to The Home Company functional teams for integrations into The Home Company systems.
  14. Informs production manager of issues or concerns which would prevent the starts process from proceeding as scheduled.
  15. Runs, analyzes and provides reports to management to assist with making business decisions.
  16. Conducts cost analysis of homes as built compared to budgets, technical and administrative work involving business systems, business practices, workflow and operational research.
  17. Work with purchasing manager, design manager, sales manager, and their respective teams to streamline processes.
  18. Other duties as business dictates.

Requirements

  • Degree in business, construction, engineering, construction management or 2+ years in construction technology/construction estimating.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel
  • General understanding of contract documentation
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to Analyze data
  • When necessary. Evening and weekend extended hours are a requirement to achieve company daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly semi-annual or annual goals.
  • Ability to take specifications and implement details to achieve desired results.
