Job description

Position Summary
The Superintendent is an onsite team leader working with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, Director of Field Operations and General Superintendent to ensure effective management and coordination of assigned jobsite resources toward the common goal of quality and timely delivery of services which exceed customer's expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Planning for, scheduling, tracking, maintaining adequate supervision of, and motivating multiple subcontractors and suppliers for the project assigned.
  2. Responsible for scheduling, interfacing, and promoting good relationships with project owners, building officials, architects, engineers, and project service providers.
  3. Responsible for ensuring that all construction activities meet master project schedule milestones by developing, preparing, and maintaining a two-week, short-interval construction activity schedule ensuring relevant parties are kept apprised of all schedule changes on a regular basis.
  4. Responsible for enforcing Hubbell's work rules and safety policies as they apply to HCS and its employees in addition to ensuring that subcontractors are held responsible for enforcing these same work rules and safety policies as they relate to their employees, subcontractors, hired labor piece workers, hourly workers, workers by the foot, etc.
  5. Responsible for project quality control and testing agencies.
  6. Layout and verification of layout elevations and material utilization for all subcontractors.
  7. Timely and profitable completion of assigned projects.
  8. Timely review and approval of subcontractor requisitions and invoices.
  9. Direct supervision and timely evaluation of assistant site managers and trainees.
  10. Ensures familiarity with contract documents with assigned site personnel.
  11. Maintains positive working environment for entire site team.
  12. Responsible for the entire drawing/submittal process, including: reviews, mark up, and approval within project management software.
  13. Documents historical information to include daily reports, photos, punch lists, inspections, RFIs, and safety walks in the construction management software.
  14. Oversees process for creating meeting agenda/minutes for foreman meetings within project management software.
  15. Leads punch list efforts with documentation housed within project management software.
  16. Maintains accurate and up to date as-builts in paper format.
  17. Performs preconstruction plan reviews and creates project constructability logs.
  18. Attends all superintendent meetings, required corporate meetings, training programs, and seminars.

Requirements
  • Minimum five years of project superintendent experience on projects ranging from $500,000 to $15 million, including restaurant, retail, bank, health care, multifamily, and remodel projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • Proficient with MS Project scheduling software
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial building construction activities
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, federal, state, municipal and project-specific safety regulations OSHA 10 hour certified preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and shop drawings
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people and interact professionally with all parties associated with project
  • Ability to supervise and manage on-site personnel and provide a positive work environment, growth and training
  • General knowledge of AIA contract documents
  • Working knowledge of material control
  • Working knowledge of all construction trades, including surveying and engineering procedures
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must be bondable. Must have proof of liability insurance for same.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from floor/ground to window height frequently.
  • When lift exceeds 100 pounds, other personnel will provide assistance and/or the use of lifting equipment such as a hand truck, dolly, hoist, or lifting straps will be required.
  • Constant ability to walk, kneel, bend, crouch, climb, crawl, etc., to reach items in need of repair.
  • Tolerance to all extremes of hot and cold weather (below 0 and above 100 degrees) frequently.
  • Must remain alert at all times to perform essential functions.
