HTB CPTs are recognized for their hands-on abilities to identify and mitigate security risks in real-world environments, making them valuable assets in the field of cybersecurity.

How does a penetration tester (CPT) typically collaborate with other IT and security teams during an engagement?

Penetration testers, often certified as HTB CPTs, work closely with IT and security teams throughout each engagement. They begin by discussing scope and objectives with stakeholders, then coordinate with system administrators to ensure tests don’t disrupt business operations. During testing, they communicate findings in real time, especially if critical vulnerabilities are discovered. Afterward, they work alongside teams to explain the results, prioritize remediation steps, and sometimes assist with retesting to verify fixes. This collaborative approach ensures security improvements are effectively implemented.
