HSE Engineer

Direct Hire

5+ years of experience

New Baltimore, MI (this is a regional role, so will be in charge of Danville, KY plant too)

  • Will travel to Kentucky 2-3 times a year max


Duties/Responsibilities:

Environmental:

• Ensures all locations meet or exceed regulatory environmental requirements.

• Manages environmental site permits, hazardous waste and pollution prevention programs, prepares and

files required environmental reports (i.e., Tier II, Sara Title III, annual wastewater report, MAERS,

Biennial Hazardous Waste).

• Manages and maintains ISO 14001 & 45001 Environmental Management & Occupational Health &

Safety System, including developing, implementing and maintaining environmental policies, procedures,

practices, conducting periodic internal audits, and managing 3rd party ISO1 audits.

• Act as lead internal auditor for ISO on behalf of all NA sites.

Sustainability:

• Support and develop energy conservation, waste reductions programs, and recycling initiatives throughout NA.

• Manages energy consumption such as green energy, water, natural gas, propane, waste, and carbon.

• Develop and maintain a process to eliminate waste and manage landfill requirements.

• Roll out internal platforms for data collection, dashboards, training, awards, and other tools that create a

foundation of sustainability.

• Develops and executes a strategy on how to effectively communicate/train sustainability with internal and external stakeholders.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide a sustainability culture.

Safety:

• Support site HR teams on the administration/implementation of safety programs, policies, events, and

overall development of a safety culture.

• Launch safety methodology initiatives as a driver of continuous improvement.

• Champion workshops and engagement activities to implement a proactive safety work first environment.

• Manages 8D problem solving analysis for work related accidents to implement a robust PDCA.

• Be the NA representation on safety initiatives as outlined by client.

• Support site leadership in safety reporting to client.

• Communicate to all levels of management on safety and environmental KPIs.


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge and understanding of OSHA/safety regulations for all locations.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced goal-oriented environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

• Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable Federal and State OSHA regulations along with

maintaining ISO and IATF requirements.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
