Job description

Jackson and Coker is seeking a Surgical Oncologist with Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) experience for locums weekend coverage in Georgia. This role involves inpatient responsibilities, OR time, and call coverage, working alongside an established surgical oncology team. The position offers an opportunity to provide critical care and surgical expertise in a dynamic hospital setting.

Practice Info

  • Will work alongside 4–5 physicians with APP support available
  • Assignment includes inpatient coverage, OR time, and hospital call coverage
  • Surgical cases will primarily involve first assist responsibilities
  • Team structure: Will work alongside 4–5 physicians with APP support available
  • Seeing new consults or admissions and coordinating care with intermittent APP support from Saturday at 7am – Sunday at 6pm
  • Case volume is ~1 per weekend

Responsibilities

  • First assist with OR cases which range from ex laps to whipples or liver resections, both open and robotic
  • Rounding with the team on inpatients and consults – 30+ high acuity patients
  • Seeing new consults or admissions and coordinating care with intermittent APP support from Saturday at 7am – Sunday at 6pm
  • Take calls for inpatients and consults during above hours
  • All surgical bookings will come through the attending surgeon on call

Compensation

  • $3,200 per 24-hour call day (to include 4 hours)
  • $400 per hour worked over 4 hours each day
  • $200 per hour for all hours spent completing modules, EPIC EMR training and onsite orientation

  • Coverage needed starting 5pm Fridays – 8am Mondays
  • November 6-9, 13-16, 20-23, 27-30
  • December 4-7, 11-14, 18-21, 25-28
  • 5PM Friday-8AM Monday covering weekend call

Requirements

  • Active Georgia License required
  • Board Certified General Surgery required
  • Experience in Surgical Oncology and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery required
