Plastic Surgeon PAs must have specialized training in plastic surgery techniques and often help educate patients about treatment options and recovery. Their role enhances patient care and allows plastic surgeons to focus on complex cases. Job description

Plastic Surgery Opening in Oakland, California with Kaiser Permanente

Leading the future of health care

Kaiser Permanente / The Permanente Medical Group

Oakland/Richmond, California

We are seeking a Plastic Surgeon to join our 6 physician and 1 PA-C practice. We perform a high volume of breast reduction, breast reconstruction, and transgender top surgery, as well as a significant volume of general and complex reconstructive surgery referred by our surgical colleagues. Mostly breast, ortho trauma (no hand), chest wall recon, sarcoma, and various general reconstructive problems. We also have a developing cosmetic practice (mostly breast and body). We have multiple fellowship trained microsurgeons, and a candidate must feel comfortable rounding/taking call/evaluating free flaps but would not be expected to perform microsurgery (unless fellowship trained).

The candidate should be BC or BE and will need a CA medical license. Call will be evenly split among 6 plastic surgeons. Training and comfort level would dictate patient mix for a new hire but would likely be a similar patient mix to what our existing surgeons see. Our East Bay practice covers both the Kaiser Permanente Oakland and Richmond campuses, and we operate and have clinic at both. Candidates typically either operate with each other or our skilled plastic surgery PA. This is a group practice, and collegiality and flexibility are key. We feel the chief benefits of our practice are a pretty wide scope of practice for everyone, freedom from billing or patient recruitment concerns, and particularly the benefits of a close-knit collegial group- we really rely on each other, and any new surgeon has to value that group practice aspect as an important part of their career path. This position will be valued by someone who wishes to develop and practicing a varied set of plastic surgery skills and who wants a friendly supportive group practice rather than a competitive situation. If micro trained, we perform mostly breast free flaps, but also some extremity trauma and all over the body (not head and neck) oncologic extirpation recon.

The Permanente Medical Group, Inc. is one of the largest medical groups in the nation with over 10,000 physicians, 21 medical centers, numerous clinics throughout Northern and Central California and an 80-year tradition of providing quality medical care.

  • We are Physician-led and develop our own leaders.

EXTRAORDINARY BENEFITS:

* Competitive compensation and benefits package, including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision
