Description:

Long-term contractor with HP-UX server skills for Migration and Consolidation of various HP-UX Servers currently residing at Agencies/Cluster Data Centers into the statewide datacenter at CNSE. Using HP-UX Virtualization to consolidate Agency's HP-UX hardware and lift/shift where consolidation isn't appropriate. Perform day to day System Administration on both Agency's Servers and CNSE datacenter servers.


Duties include but not limited to the following:

Under the direction of the Distributed Servers Manager, the candidate will be responsible for Expert level of System Administration technical Support on an enterprise HP-UX environment running HP-UX 11.11, 11.21, 11.31 on RP series, RX series and HP BladeSystem. The HP-UX environment uses Service Guard cluster, Enterprise EMC San and HP Virtualization including nPARs and vPars.

The Candidate will work with the Agency's Migration Project Manager and application groups on formulating Migration Strategy for HP-UX Servers. The Candidate will see the final Migration plan through completion.  

The HP Infrastructure supports various State Agency's applications including Cognos, Oracle Databases, Sybase Databases and Informix Databases. The Candidate will give assistance to Agency's Application groups on application software installation, configuration, troubleshooting, performance analysis, and server/hardware recommendation.  

The candidate will function as a single point of contact between the customer, other support teams, and vendors. Provide on-call, third-level support for ITS HP-UX server environment.


Qualifications:

7+ yrs of HP-UX Systems Administration experience which includes installation, configuring, performance tuning and troubleshooting on HP-UX Servers running HP-UX 11.11, 11.21, 11.31.using Enterprise EMC San, ServiceGuard Cluster and HP Virtualization including HP's VSOE, nPAR's and vPAR's. Hardware Types includes on RP series, RX series and HP BladeSystem 

7+ yrs experience in administrating, tuning and use of disk management tools with HP's Native Logical Volume Manager disk managers and HP-UX's Filesystem JFS(vxfs) and OnlineJFS. Example of tools: snapshots, DRD, online LUN expansion

7+ yrs experience configuring, tuning and supporting HP servers in a ServiceGuard clustered environment.

5+ yrs configure, administrate, tune and troubleshoot OS network-related tasks including, Vlan Trunk/Tag nics/vnics, vSwitch, Link Aggregation, sendmail, dns, ntp, nfs and troubleshooting server/application communications in a multi-homed server environment on a secure multi-tiered network using OS and/or 3rd party tools. 

7+ yrs experience with SAN I/O performance analysis and tuning HP-UX servers utilizing HP-UX's native MPIO, utilizing a large Enterprise-Class SAN. Examples. HP Storage Platform, EMC Storage Platform using vplex, IBM Storage Platform using SVC 

7+ yrs experience with Application/ Middleware Integration for HP-UX for either customer application software working with customer support staff or common off the shelf software. This includes performing performance analysis, and hardware recommendation.    

2+ yrs experience with data center migrations from one location to another for storage and/or compute.

5+ yrs experience Using tools like Shell Scripting (Borne, Korn), Perl Scripting for system administrating automation and MS project, Visio, Excel, and Word to produce technical documentation including dataflow diagrams

HP-UX 11i v3 Advance System Administrator Certified Professional and/or HP-UX High Availability Using ServiceGuard Certified Professional
