Job description

Electra Solutions LLC is expanding its commercial division in the Raleigh–Durham Triangle and seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to manage the takeoff-to-bid process for commercial new construction, renovation, and rehabilitation projects. This role is crucial for ensuring bid accuracy, competitiveness, and profitability. The ideal candidate has proven estimating expertise, strong judgment, and can deliver thorough bids under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, competitive electrical estimates for commercial projects including new construction, renovation, and rehab
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, drawings, and specifications
  • Review bid documents, plans, specs, and scopes of work to identify project requirements and risks
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Develop labor and material cost projections and apply appropriate labor units
  • Prepare and submit complete bid proposals with qualifications, inclusions, and exclusions
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and job walks as needed
  • Perform value engineering and identify cost-saving alternatives
  • Coordinate with project managers and field leadership on scope, budgets, and post-award handoff
  • Track bid results and maintain organized estimating records and historical cost data

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical estimating

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Experience with electrical estimating and blueprint reading
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code)
  • Proficiency with Accubid, McCormick, or similar estimating software
  • Skilled in Bluebeam for takeoffs
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Cost analysis and vendor negotiation expertise
  • Excellent communication skills
