Job description

Job Summary and Qualifications

Performs the clinical functions for the Department of Pharmacy. Will provide structure, guidance, and accountability from a clinical standpoint to customers (patients, physicians, employees, visitors, and investors) who receive pharmacy services in a professional and efficient manner.

What you will do in this role:

  • Develops and coordinates the clinical functions of pharmacy practice and drug usage. Takes a proactive approach to pharmaceutical services paying attention to key industry trends and dynamics, population demographics, and local market dynamics. Recognizes customer preference and need for new product development and implements processes to support the initiative of providing high quality, effective and efficient health care services.
  • Assess the needs of the department from a clinical skills standpoint. Designs, develops, and implements programs to improve the clinical skills of the departmental staff as identified by assessment processes.
  • Assess the drug usage process within the facility to identify opportunities for improvement from both a quality and financial perspective. Designs, develops, and implements changes in the drug usage process to address the opportunities identified.
  • Initiates and evaluates new programs to be implemented by the department of pharmacy as they pertain to the clinical operation of the department.
  • Participates in all meetings of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Committee, Infection Control Committee and any other committee deemed appropriate by Administration or the Medical Staff as they relate to pharmaceutical services. Will coordinate all activities of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee with the chairperson of the committee and the director of pharmacy.
  • Assists in the integration of clinical services with the distributive functions of the department.
  • Performs distributive functions of the department with staff pharmacists and technicians when deem necessary to maintain effective operations.
