Position Summary

The Ski & Ride School Supervisoris responsible forthe daily leadership, management, and operational execution of Ski & Ride School programs across assigned base areas and products. The primary duty of this role is the management of Ski & Ride School operations and staff, including scheduling, supervision, performance management, and operational decision-making. Supervisors oversee instructors and support staff, ensure consistent delivery of high-quality guest experiences, and uphold Mt.Bachelorsafety, service, and instructional standards.
This role exercises independent judgment and discretion and serves as the primary operational decision-maker during assigned shifts. Program assignments vary by season and business needs.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily Ski & Ride School operations and instructor lineups.

  • Conduct safety and operational briefings.

  • Make real-time decisions on staffing, lesson flow, and terrain usage.

Staff Supervision & Management

  • Supervise 40-150 instructors and support staff.

  • Schedule staff and assign daily work.

  • Coach, evaluate, and document performance.

  • Influence hiring, discipline, andseparationdecisions.

Guest Experience

  • Act as the service issues while balancing safety and experience.

Administrative & Financial Oversight

  • Approvedailypayroll and timekeeping.

  • Monitor inventory, sales, and staffing needs.Escalation point for guest concerns.

  • Resolveservice issues while balancing safety and experience.

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce safety standards and manage incidentresponse.

Zone Ownership

  • Oversee lesson zones, signage, fencing, and professional standards.

Secondary Function

  • Teachskiorsnowboardlessons on a limited basis to support operations.

  • Operatesurface lifts asrequired.

  • Assistwith snow removal, setup, and teardown.

  • Serve asactingdepartment lead when a manager is not present.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Scope

The primary focus of the supervisor is to run dailylesson operations. Assisting both staff andguestsdayof, and planning for future days of operation.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Number of employees supervised: 150

  • Positions Supervised: Instructors & Support Staff

  • Scheduling and assigning work: Instructors on a seasonal and daily basis.

  • Training: Assist in implementation of training both at the beginning of the season and continuing.

  • Disciplinary Actions: Yes, alongside management and tracked within instructor performance logs.

  • Performance Reviews: Regular on-snow check-ins and formal evaluations as needed.

  • Hiring/Termination: Assist manager with paperwork.

Interpersonal Contacts

Communicateswith instructors,supervisors, andmanagerson a daily basis.Communication with other departments as needed, including but not limited to Rentals, Tickets, Food and Beverage, and Lift Maintenance.

Specific Job Skills

  • License/Certifications: PSIA/AASI Level 1or equivalent. Level 2 PSIA/AASI or equivalentpreferred.

  • Technical: Child Development background a plus. Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office required; RTP Point of Sale and ADP knowledge a plus). Able to ski or ride at anadvancedlevel.

  • Physical Capabilities: Able to work outside in all weather conditions.Must be physically capable of being on skis or a snowboard and wear ski or snowboard boots for the entire day. Able tolift upto50 lbs.,i.e., small children andassist adults.

  • Additional: Must be extremely patient with a high level of organizational skill. Able to work overtime during our busiest holidays and weekends.Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a criminal background check will be conducted after the position is accepted, and results will determine the conditional job offer. This background check will be done in accordance with standards enacted under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Education/Related Experience

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.Current Ski, Snowboard, or Mountain Bike certification.

  • Minimum time in related position: At least2years ofsportinstruction, at least1 yearof supervisory experience.
