Housekeeping Supervisor (Working Supervisor) - Assisted Living
Full-Time โ€ข Allegria Village - Dearborn, MI
Allegria Village, a senior living community in Dearborn, is seeking a Full-Time Housekeeping Supervisor (Working Supervisor) to support and participate in daily housekeeping operations within our Assisted Living community.
Please note: This is not hotel-style housekeeping.
Housekeeping in senior living is more closely aligned with hospital or healthcare environmental services, where infection control, chemical safety, and the proper handling of bodily fluids are critical. Experience in hospital, long-term care, assisted living, or similar healthcare environments is strongly preferred.
Position Overview
This is a working supervisor role. In addition to supervising and supporting housekeeping and laundry staff, the Supervisor will regularly perform hands-on cleaning duties to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors, in accordance with healthcare regulations and infection control protocols.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a working supervisor, performing cleaning tasks alongside staff, including sanitizing resident rooms, restrooms, common areas, and high-touch surfaces
  • Assist the Director of Housekeeping with daily operations and ensure compliance with infection control and sanitation standards
  • Supervise housekeeping and laundry staff within the Assisted Living community, including scheduling, assigning duties, and monitoring work quality
  • Oversee deep-cleaning projects, move-in/move-out preparations, and carpet/upholstery care
  • Monitor and manage cleaning chemicals, supplies, PPE, and housekeeping equipment
  • Train staff on cleaning protocols, infection control, chemical safety, OSHA/EPA/MSDS compliance, and proper PPE usage
  • Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to safety and sanitation regulations
  • Promote a professional, respectful, and discreet environment while protecting resident privacy and confidentiality
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in healthcare, senior living, assisted living, hospital housekeeping, or environmental services
  • Strong understanding of infection control, safety protocols, and healthcare environmental services practices
  • Strong communication, organization, and staff leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Flexibility with scheduling, including potential weekend needs
  • Willingness and ability to perform hands-on cleaning duties regularly
