Job description

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Housekeeping/Hotel, the Supervisor, Housekeeping is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within the Department. Focuses on maintaining and improving the Housekeeping services and operations of the Hotel. Works closely with the Assistant Manager, Housekeeping/Hotel by overseeing the Department's service and standards to be in line with Forbes standards and enterprise policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists Assistant Manager, Housekeeping/Hotel in leading all Housekeeping operations. Assists in monitoring and evaluating all daily departmental activities for assigned team members to ensure successful day-to-day management of operations. Works collaboratively with other Hotel departments to ensure seamless customer service and quality performance of team members. Assists with assignment/distribution of room assignments and work duties. Coordinates scheduling and completion of deep cleaning and related assigned projects. Ensures timely and efficient execution of guest room turnover as defined by service standards established by Hotel management. Ensures adherence to Hotel and enterprise brand standards at all times.
2. Keeps up to date on health and safety policies and procedures and ensures all team members consistently meet standards of safety, cleanliness and maintenance throughout Department, including ensuring all required certifications remain current. Responsible for regular inspections of Hotel to ensure adherence to established cleanliness and maintenance standards. Ensures proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, confirming complete training for team members, and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with federal, state, local, and enterprise regulations. Ensures all equipment is maintained and used accordingly. Ensures essential equipment, parts, and chemicals are on hand for team members, are properly identified and labeled according to SDS, and are in safe and proper working condition while being utilized before projects begin (i.e. hard hats, back braces, safety glasses, etc.). Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, stockrooms and carts.
3. Maintains consistent Forbes Travel Guide standards by conducting daily inspections of corridors, closets and rooms (suites, VIP's and site rooms). Performs routine inspections of all check out rooms and spot checks of all occupied rooms. Inspects all vacant clean rooms and releases in system as ready for occupancy. Completes daily scored inspections for all Room Attendants with minimum of 1 occupied and 1 vacant room per team member in corresponding section. Inspects House Person sections and landing closets daily and provides scores. Monitors report status and discrepancy of rooms. (5%)
4. Oversees and contributes to environment which motivates team members to collaborate, learn, perform, and develop their skills. Oversees a diverse team of well-trained team members by leading by example, empowering, sharing knowledge, and coaching throughout employment lifecycle. Provides guidance and training to Housekeeping Team Members to achieve performance standards.
5. Coordinates and communicates with Facilities Department for repair of guest rooms and public areas (guest & service landings, corridors, guest elevators). Reports and follows-up on any maintenance defects or other issues to ensure all maintenance requests pertaining to guest rooms and departmental equipment are addressed in an efficient manner.
6. Assists with departmental issues in collaboration with Housekeeping Assistant Manager on courses of action to improve and/or enhance overall Department performance.
7. Assists with administering lost and found program. Assists with VIP and other special requests. Maintains professional demeanor and appearance at all times. Responsible for carrying a radio and wearing an ear piece discretely to communicate. Maintains ability to perform all essential duties listed under Housekeeper and House Person job descriptions and assists with job duties as needed for efficient Department operations.
8. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Makes hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates Degree is required.

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in Housekeeping, Janitorial, Custodial, or related field required; within an upscale hotel strongly preferred.

  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a role leading and coaching others to meet and exceed standards is preferred.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Knowledge of housekeeping service techniques and productivity levels.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and property maintenance system.

  • Proven supervisory problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment.

  • Ability to identify and prioritize issues, delegating as appropriate, to drive to measurable results.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver's license or insurance.
