Job description

General Information:

Job title: Housekeeper

Location: Fair View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center - Mauston, WI

Schedules Available: Part-time 2, 37.5 hours per pay period; either a 6am-2pm or 8a-4pm schedule.

Weekend rotation: Every other weekend (shift differential available)

Holiday rotation: Every other holiday rotation

Position Summary:

The Housekeeper position cleans assigned resident rooms and works as a member of the cleaning team to assist in keeping public areas neat and clean. The Housekeeper is willing to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis as directed, observing proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Clean bedrooms: daily duties include vacuuming floor, emptying wastebaskets, changing linens and making beds and dusting furniture.
  • Clean bathrooms: daily duties include mopping the floor, scrubbing the toilet, tub, basin, and counter; replacing paper towels, soap, toilet paper, and other toiletries as required.
  • Clean kitchenettes: daily duties include cleaning countertop, replacing coffee supplies, checking and cleaning refrigerator and microwave if required.
  • Inspect the room to see if any repairs are required or if carpet, blankets, bedspreads, or draperies need to be cleaned or laundered.
  • Make each resident room as neat as possible without disturbing residents' personal property.
  • Perform assigned tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, washing surfaces like counters, emptying trash, and other duties as necessary to assist in cleaning lobby, halls, and meeting rooms.
  • Assemble materials and supplies from the supply room and transports them to work area.
  • Clean assigned areas by washing furnishings, equipment and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease.
  • Use appropriate cloths and disinfectants for window sills, blinds, floors, furniture and equipment.
  • Request help in moving heavy furniture and in turning mattresses. Report any mechanical failures or negative conditions observed in the assigned area.
  • Wash walls with appropriate cleaning solutions and products.
  • Gather and dispose of trash, wash waste baskets as needed and reline with plastic bags.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Position Requirements:

  • Six months of related work experience preferred.
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

  • Ability to read and follow instructions.
  • Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays, as assigned.
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
