Job description

New World Stages and Stage 42, two of the leading Off-Broadway theaters, are currently seeking a full-time usher/house manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a collaborative and fun entertainment organization, and a great stepping stone for part-time members of the Shubert Off-Broadway House Staff team.
SALARY/PAY RATE: $51,750/year. We offer a superior benefits package (paid health insurance by the company for employees only - employees contribute toward dependent premiums, 401(k) savings plan with company match, Paid Time Off, etc.)
SCHEDULED HOURS: 35 hours/week. Work schedule will vary depending on performances and needs of the building. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends. All applicants must be able to work evenings Monday-Sunday and matinees Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
• Greeting patrons who come into the building with a friendly demeanor and directing them to the theaters, restrooms, and bars throughout the building
• Helping preset the house before walk-in and cleaning up trash after walk-out
• Assisting patrons with finding their seats, and troubleshooting any patron complaints
• Taking tickets, working coat check, and assisting patrons with special needs such as patrons in wheelchairs
• Assisting with training of new part-time staff members
• Attending regular trainings and drills regarding emergency evacuations and safety procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
• Must be extremely proactive and reliable
• Excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain composure under stress
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends/holidays/early mornings
• FDNY F03 Certification (must be obtained within two weeks of hire and be maintained)
• Experience supervising and managing a staff preferred
• Familiarity with the operations of both New World Stages and Stage 42 preferred
