Duties
Under the supervision, the Student Success Specialist (part-time, grant-funded) position in Career Connections will assist with implementation of Workforce Investment Opportunity Act WIOA to conduct outreach, determine program eligibility, conduct assessments, provide initial and on-going career counseling to program participants. The Student Success Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.
Duties and responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  • Assist in outreach activities for participant recruitment for the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA).
  • Assist with participant intake and eligibility activities for the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA).
  • Provide assistance with initial and on-going counseling for Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) program participants.
  • Administer and coordinate grant-related activities.
  • Assist with monitoring projected program goals, benchmarks and outcomes to determine if they are being met. Assist in developing and implementing strategies that address gaps in performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree required. Bachelor's degree in social services, psychology, counseling, education, human resources, business, marketing, or related area; and a minimum 1-3 years of related experience required, such as educational training, assessment, direct student service, counseling/guidance, or workforce development.
Qualifications
The Student Success Specialist must be able to interact professionally with program participants, college staff/administration and outside agencies; knowledge of unemployed and low-income population served through WIOA program; excellent verbal and written communication skills; good organizational skills; experience with or knowledge of educational programs; well-developed presentation skills and job search services; ability to communicate with large groups, good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to handle multiple tasks while working under tight deadlines. Experience using Career Connect and IWDS, preferred.Bilingual skills welcomed.
