Position Summary:
Alamon, Inc., a Montana-based employee-owned company since 1975, provides installation services to the utilities, energy, and communications industries nationwide. There is no ceiling when it comes to your professional growth at Alamon, an employee – owned company.
Alamon, Inc. seeks a Telecommunication Technician Level 4 for its Wireless Services department.
This position entails: working in Central Offices, MSO and/or Data Centers, installing equipment to include Adtran, Cisco, Ciena (Ethernet and/or DWDM), Infinera, Fujitsu, Calix, Nokia, Galaxy 4848, Galaxy Millennium Controllers, Vertiv Power Systems, Eltek Power Systems and Wet/VRLA Battery replacements. The Level 4 Telecommunication Technician must have extensive Lumen experience, be a self-starter and possess a safety-oriented mindset. This position requires extensive travel.

Job Description:
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunication equipment and systems
  • Provide central office installation services and adhere to the quality standards required for Telcordia GR-1275, Lumen 77350 / 77385, ATT TP-76300 / TP-76400 and/or Verizon IP72202 ISS 5-1 Core Standards
  • Write GMOP / DMOP and process all associated paperwork within an EJP that is required for each job
  • Read and interpret floor plans, rack drawings, and customer-provided work orders
  • Install relay racking, cable racking, fiber ducting, auxiliary framing and other superstructure elements
  • Install and sew copper and fiber cables utilizing an array of connector types (RJ45 / wire wrapping, BNC, LC/SC, etc.)
  • Perform lacing, stitching, and sewing
  • Install DC power rectification, batteries, fuse panels and BDFB/BDCBB
  • Work effectively with engineers, technicians, and customers
  • Verify network and timing connectivity and continuity of various fiber and cable connections
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all equipment, configurations, changes and maintenance activities
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Must pass the pre-employment screening process which includes a background check, drug test and motor vehicle records pull.
  • Have the ability and mentality to work outdoors, in a physically demanding work environment and all-weather conditions, lifting or moving up to 50lbs., and hiking over various terrain.
  • Possess a current and valid driver’s license and a clean driving record with no DUI / DWIs within the past 5 years.
  • Willing to travel locally, statewide, or regionally as required.
  • Be available to work nights and weekends as required by project demands.
Work Environment:
  • The Level 4 Telecommunication Technician position requires visiting Alamon customer site facilities nationwide, travel is required.
  • Must be able to work in enterprise, educational, warehouse, and manufacturing settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor work will be based off the scope of the contract.
  • Exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, varying noise levels, and wet or slick surfaces may be possible.
  • When appropriate, wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations.
  • This position may require working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and terrain; may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet, windy, or icy conditions.
Physical Demands:
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at a time.
  • Must be able to ride in a vehicle for extended periods of time to travel to and from job sites.
  • Ability to work in different temperatures and through changing weather conditions.
  • Must be able to traverse all areas of the Jobsite. This may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, kneeling, or stretching.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish colors, shades, and brightness when working with multi-colored cablings such as twisted pair copper and fiber optic cable.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and use practical judgment while working through job assignments.
  • Ability to work at heights, handle ladders, along with pushing and pulling equipment.
Travel Requirements:
  • This position requires extensive travel.
  • Lodging is provided while working and traveling for the Company.
Education and Experience:
  • Highschool Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of the Central Office / MSO / Data Center standards.
  • Must have a working knowledge of installing ironwork, earthquake bracing, cable racking and fiber ducting.
  • Must have DC Power (-48VDC) knowledge and be able to install and perform hot cuts as needed.
  • Extensive understanding of hand tools, test equipment, and ability to use a computer to interface with customer products.
  • Possess the skills and ability to plan and coordinate high-risk activity including identifying equipment, cards, fiber cables, and circuit IDs.
  • Ability to map out and run new fibers for integration, fiber rolls, and hot cuts.
  • Communicate effectively, including proficiency in written and verbal communications, with strong listening skills.
  • Possess excellent time-management skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office computer applications: Email, Excel, Word, OneDrive.
