Scaffold Builder 2

Based in Houston, Taurus Industrial Group (Taurus) is a leading, integrated and industry-diversified technical services company offering end-to-end services across multiple service lines. Leveraging a growing footprint with operations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, Taurus's service offerings cover engineering and automation, electrical and instrumentation, power systems testing and commissioning, civil and mechanical crafts, pipe and structural steel fabrication, rotating equipment maintenance and repairs, full-service soft crafts, insulation and scaffold, specialty tooling and machining, technical bolting, heat treating, hot-tapping, line stopping and NDT / inspections.

With over 60 years of continuous, safe, and reliable operating experience, Taurus operates across multiple industries and sectors, providing front-end engineering, routine maintenance, capital projects, and turnaround services. We service multiple areas of the energy industry, from our origins in traditional petrochemical and refining industries to the broader power, natural gas, midstream, industrials, and the emerging renewables market.

About the Role

The Scaffold Builder 2 plays a critical role in the construction and maintenance of safe and efficient scaffolding systems at industrial and commercial sites. This position requires the ability to interpret complex blueprints and engineering drawings to assemble scaffolding structures that meet stringent safety and regulatory standards. The Scaffold Builder 2 will lead scaffold assembly teams, ensuring that all work is completed on schedule while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards. This role demands a thorough understanding of scaffold design, load capacities, and safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure structural integrity. Ultimately, the Scaffold Builder 2 ensures that scaffolding supports the successful completion of construction, maintenance, or repair projects by providing secure access and working platforms for other tradespeople.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in scaffold building or a related construction field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA scaffold safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and scaffold design plans.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in scaffold building or related safety training (e.g., CISRS, SSP).
  • Experience working in industrial or petrochemical environments.
  • Proven leadership experience in supervising scaffold teams.
  • Familiarity with rigging and crane operations related to scaffold assembly.
  • First aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze scaffold design plans, blueprints, and specifications to determine the appropriate materials and assembly methods.
  • Assemble, erect, and dismantle scaffolding structures safely and efficiently in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Lead and coordinate scaffold building teams, providing guidance and training to ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality workmanship.
  • Inspect scaffolding regularly to identify and address any structural issues or safety hazards, performing necessary repairs or adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of scaffold materials, inspections, and work progress, and communicate effectively with project managers and other trades.

Skills

The Scaffold Builder 2 utilizes technical skills to accurately interpret scaffold design plans and translate them into safe, functional structures. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for directing team members and coordinating with other trades to ensure project timelines are met. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities are critical when inspecting scaffolding and addressing any safety or structural concerns promptly. Physical stamina and dexterity are required to handle materials and work at various heights safely. Additionally, knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to enforce them daily helps maintain a secure work environment for all personnel involved.
