Job description

Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the DHA for Domestic DIB Facilities and the MRTFB in the DoD. There may or may not be actual vacancies filled from this flyer. Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer.

Duties
Help
  • You will prepare containers with appropriate blocking, bracing for shipment of both general cargo and hazardous materials
  • You will be required to fabricate shipping containers to military specifications, for all materials including hazardous materials.
  • You will construct a full range of standard and nonstandard containers requiring complex bracing.
  • You will use a variety of hand tools, machinery and mechanized equipment while performing duties associated with this position such as wood working machinery, radial arm saws, band saws, drill presses, generators, drills, screw/nail guns, and more.
  • You will prepare packing lists, stencil containers with shipping instructions, and perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
  • You will adhere to rules and regulations for proper packaging of hazardous materials and sensitive shipments in accordance with prescribed regulations.
  • You will measure and weigh items, determine appropriate packing method, select necessary lumber and materials, inspect lumber for compliance and perform moisture tests to certify lumber for use.

  • You may be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the full range of tasks, under limited supervision, as demonstrated by experience including planning, constructing and repairing custom and standardized shipping and storage containers of various shapes and sizes; documenting shipping and storage of materials; packing materials, including HAZMAT, and equipment using appropriate wrapping, padding, and cushioning materials; performing the blocking and bracing of materials; making and placing supports to prevent shifting during transit or storage; securing items for transport; using hand tools and handheld power tools; measure cuts of lumber for nonstandard, skidded, trussed, or sheathed containers; operate a forklift capable of lifting loads weighing less than 25,000 pounds.
