Agri-Cycle is New England's largest and fastest growing food waste collection company; we are experiencing exponential growth year-after-year and provide an essential service for the entire Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Our process utilizes organic waste to create renewable energy through local anaerobic digestors.

We are seeking a Senior Automation & Data Systems Engineer to design and build the internal systems that power our operations.


This role will integrate data across telematics, finance, CRM, inventory, routing, and customer reporting platforms to automate workflows, generate insights, and eliminate manual processes across the business.


You will collaborate with executive leadership and operations teams and connect the dots to scale our impact-driven mission to divert food waste from landfills.


Key Responsibilities

Systems Integration & Automation

· Build integrations between business systems (Samsara, Whip Around, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Microsoft tools, etc.)

· Develop automated workflows triggered by events, schedules, or operational thresholds.

· Create notification systems via Teams, Slack, SMS, and email

· Design APIs and data pipelines connecting internal and external platforms

Reporting & Analytics

· Automate recurring operational and executive reports

· Build dashboards for terminal performance, driver KPIs, and financial metrics

· Implement data validation and audit checks for accuracy

· Develop predictive models using historical data

Operations Technology

· Automate work order tracking, inventory monitoring, and equipment management

· Build tools to improve routing efficiency, subcontractor usage, and fleet productivity

· Create systems for driver performance tracking and incentive programs

· Support emergency response workflows and real-time operational alerts

Finance & Billing Automation

· Automate invoicing workflows and reconciliation processes

· Identify unbilled items and financial discrepancies

· Integrate payroll and fuel card systems

· Support terminal-level budgeting and cost tracking

Customer & Sales Systems

· Generate automated client reports (tonnage, ESG impact, cost savings)

· Support CRM automation and outreach workflows

· Build proposal-generation tools and onboarding automation

· Develop reporting interfaces for enterprise clients

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

· 5+ years of data engineering/automation experience

· Strong experience with API integrations and data pipelines

· Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript (both preferred)

· Experience with SQL and relational databases

· Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions

· Experience building internal reporting tools

Strongly Preferred Experience

· Logistics, transportation, fleet management, or field operations
