What is a Python LLM job?

A Python LLM job involves working with Large Language Models (LLMs) using Python to develop, fine-tune, and deploy AI models. Responsibilities may include data preprocessing, prompt engineering, model optimization, and integration with applications. Professionals in this role often work with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face Transformers. They may also contribute to improving model efficiency, reducing bias, and ensuring ethical AI usage.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Python Llm position, and why are they important?

To excel as a Python LLM (Large Language Model) Engineer, you need strong skills in Python programming, machine learning, and natural language processing, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Proficiency with libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, and experience with model deployment platforms are often essential, alongside certifications in AI or data science. Effective communication, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration are important soft skills for working in interdisciplinary teams and delivering results in dynamic environments. These skills ensure the development, fine-tuning, and deployment of advanced language models that meet both technical and business objectives.

What are some common challenges faced by Python LLM Engineers in their daily work?

Python LLM Engineers often encounter challenges related to optimizing model performance, managing large datasets, and adapting models to specific business needs. Working with large-scale language models requires balancing computational resource limitations with the need for high accuracy and efficiency. Collaboration with data scientists, product managers, and DevOps engineers is routine to ensure seamless model integration and deployment. Staying updated on the latest advancements in NLP and continuously improving models based on user feedback are also important aspects of the role.

Job Description
About SS&C Technologies
SS&C is a global provider of investment, financial services and software for the financial services and healthcare industries. Named to Fortune 1000 list as top U.S. company based on revenue, SS&C is headquartered in Windsor, Connecticut and has 20,000+ employees in over 90 offices in 35 countries. Some 18,000 financial services and healthcare organizations, from the world's largest institutions to local firms, manage and account for their investments using SS&C's products and services.
SS&C Blue Prism allows organizations to deliver transformational business value via our intelligent automation platform. We make products with one aim in mind - to improve experiences for people. By connecting people and digital workers you can use the right resource, every time, for the best customer and business outcomes. We supply enterprise-wide software that not only provides full control and governance, but also allows businesses to react fast to continuous change.
Role Summary
We are looking for a Generative AI Developer who can build end-to-end, production-grade applications using Generative AI. The ideal candidate is a strong technologist with experience across web applications, data analysis, and automation, and who understands that GenAI development is as much about language, data, and business context as it is about code.
This role focuses on building solutions using internal / private LLMs, emphasizing security, reliability, and enterprise integration over public API experimentation.
Key Responsibilities
Generative AI & Prompt Engineering
  • Design, develop, and optimize applications leveraging internal LLM platforms
  • Create, test, and maintain high-quality prompts to drive accurate and predictable outputs
  • Apply advanced prompting techniques including:
  • Few-shot prompting
  • Prompt chaining
  • RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
  • Establish prompt evaluation and versioning practices

End-to-End Application Development
  • Build full-stack, end-to-end GenAI applications
  • Design and implement backend services integrating LLMs with enterprise systems
  • Develop or collaborate on web-based user interfaces
  • Integrate GenAI capabilities into existing applications and workflows

Web & Technology Stack
  • Work with modern web technologies, such as:
  • REST APIs
  • Web frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or equivalent)
  • Backend services (Node.js, Java, Python, .NET, etc.)
  • Understand client-server architecture and web security fundamentals
  • Build scalable, maintainable application architectures

Data, Analysis & Automation
  • Analyze structured and unstructured data for GenAI use cases
  • Translate business requirements into LLM-driven workflows
  • Perform data validation, transformation, and analysis to support AI pipelines
  • Collaborate with automation teams; experience with Blue Prism is a plus

Enterprise & Governance
  • Build solutions aligned with enterprise security, compliance, and governance standards
  • Work with private/internal LLMs, ensuring data privacy and controlled usage
  • Document design decisions, prompts, and system behavior clearly

Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Requirements
  • 2-3 years experience building GenAI / LLM-based applications
  • 1-3 years hands-on experience with prompt engineering
  • Strong written English skills (critical for prompt design and documentation)
  • Data analysis or business analysis experience (2-3 years)
  • Ability to code in at least one modern programming language (language-agnostic mindset)
  • Experience building end-to-end applications, not just models or scripts

Technical Skills
  • Experience with:
  • Internal / private LLM platforms
  • RAG architectures and vector search
  • APIs and service-oriented architecture
  • Solid understanding of:
  • LLM limitations (hallucinations, bias, drift)
  • Evaluation and validation of model outputs
  • Cost, latency, and performance trade-offs

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Blue Prism RPA experience
  • Experience with enterprise web applications
  • Familiarity with LLMOps / MLOps concepts
  • Knowledge of document-heavy domains (contracts, agreements, reports)
  • Experience working in regulated or enterprise environments

Mindset & Attributes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working across language, data, and code
  • Business-focused with an outcome-driven mindset
  • Able to explain GenAI behavior to technical and non-technical audiences

Why Join Us
  • Build real, production-grade GenAI applications
  • Work with secure, internal LLM platforms
  • Influence how GenAI is adopted responsibly at scale
  • Be part of an end-to-end engineering team, not a siloed AI lab
