JOB DESCRIPTION

Stonehouse Drilling is a water well drilling and pump company that specializes in municipal, mining, industrial, and agricultural water wells and well pump systems. Stonehouse is seeking an experienced Senior Pump Technician based in Reno, NV. This is a working lead position — you’ll be in the field doing the work alongside your crew while coaching and developing other technicians. You’ll coordinate daily project activities, communicate directly with customers and management, and lead challenging projects across NV and CA. If you have the skills and experience to lead a pump crew and want to earn top wages in the trades, this is the opportunity for you.

·         Pump tests: Conduct pump and well performance tests requiring monitoring and evaluation of well discharge metering. Collect and document detailed performance data in handwritten or digital spreadsheets.

·         Troubleshooting issues: Troubleshoot basic pump performance issues. Includes understanding pump mechanics, assembly/disassembly of components, electrical controls including use of a multimeter verify electrical supply power. Evaluate and determine next steps for repair or replacement and communicate with supervisor.

LEADERSHIP:

·         Communicate and document: Articulate project operations and objectives clearly to customers and Stonehouse leaders. Complete required field documentation, job reports, and daily logs — both handwritten and digital. Must be proficient with basic computer use and email for communication and record-keeping.

·         Project lead: This is a working lead role — you will be hands-on performing pump work alongside the crew, not just supervising. You will independently manage pump projects, read and interpret project specifications, train and mentor junior pump technicians on proper techniques, and ensure quality and safety standards are met on every job.

YOU SHOULD HAVE

·         Licenses and certifications: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. CDL Class A is strongly preferred and earns higher pay — if you have one, bring it. If you don’t, a standard license is acceptable for the right candidate.

·         Experience and education: Must have 2+ years of relevant experience in water well pump systems and a high school diploma or equivalent.

·         Operational experience: Must have experience with machinery through work in construction, drilling, electrical, mechanical, or other contract projects.

·         Ability to travel and work remotely up to 100% of the time. All work is outdoors and is year-round.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

·         Hourly wages starting at $28–32/hour, with pay based on experience — more experience means a higher starting rate, and CDL A holders earn premium pay. This position typically works 6 days per week with substantial overtime. Experienced technicians can easily earn $90,000+ per year in total compensation.

·         Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates who need to relocate to the Reno, NV area. Don’t let distance stop you from applying — let’s talk.

·         Paid Time Off (PTO), paid company holidays

·         Medical care (Stonehouse covers 100% of the employee base plan)

·         Medical, life, dental, vision insurance; 401-k retirement plan
