We are seeking a dedicated PREA/Grievance Program Officer to lead critical work that protects the safety, rights, and dignity of the people we serve. The Montana DOC maintains a zerotolerance stance toward all forms of sexual abuse and harassment. In this position, you will directly support that commitment, helping ensure safety, fairness, and accountability throughout the facility. Your work will protect individuals, support staff, and uphold the integrity of the reentry process.

PREA Responsibilities:

• Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of all facility activities related to PREA compliance.

• Conduct administrative investigations involving offenders, staff, volunteers, and contractors, supporting attorneys, prosecutors, and agency leadership when legal or disciplinary action is required.

• Collect evidence, prepare thorough PREA Summary Reports, and maintain complete investigative case files.

• Review facility incident reports to identify potential PREA concerns or unusual staff/offender activity.

• Locate and interview victims, witnesses, and subjects using proper administrative investigative techniques.

• Testify in criminal, civil, or administrative proceedings as the department's investigative representative.

Grievance Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of the facility grievance program, including collecting, reviewing, tracking, and  responding to offender grievances.

• Ensure staff are properly trained in grievance procedures and responsibilities.

• Provide clear, accessible information to offenders regarding how to initiate and use the grievance process.

• Track, analyze, and report PREA and grievancerelated data to facility and agency leadership to support transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The hourly rate of this position will increase by $1.00 per hour or 2.5%, whichever is greater, effective July 1, 2026, in accordance with HB13.

QUALIFICATIONS

The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:

• Bachelor's degree in human services, business, or a related field.

• Two years of relevant experience.

Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
