PLC Programmer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced PLC Programmer to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate will have intermediate-level experience programming Siemens PLCs and Allen-Bradley PLCs, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, electrical controls, and industrial communication networks.

This role works closely with engineering, maintenance, production, and commissioning teams to improve equipment performance, support system integrations, and ensure reliable plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for automated machinery and industrial control systems.
  • Program and support Siemens SIMATIC S7 and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix or CompactLogix platforms.
  • Configure and maintain HMI systems, operator interfaces, alarms, and production displays.
  • Perform control system commissioning, startup, testing, and validation.
  • Diagnose electrical, software, communication, and equipment performance issues.
  • Create and update ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and control sequences.
  • Integrate PLCs with variable frequency drives, sensors, safety devices, robotics, and other industrial equipment.
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial networks, including PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus.
  • Review electrical drawings, control schematics, panel layouts, and equipment documentation.
  • Support preventive maintenance, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for PLC code, system changes, backups, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, controls engineers, technicians, vendors, and production personnel.
  • Follow applicable electrical, machine safety, and facility procedures.
  • Provide technical support during equipment downtime and production interruptions.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience in PLC programming, industrial automation, or controls engineering.
  • Practical experience with Siemens TIA Portal, STEP 7, or Siemens SIMATIC automation systems.
  • Practical experience with Rockwell Automation Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, or Allen-Bradley control systems.
  • Working knowledge of HMI programming, preferably using Siemens WinCC or Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting automated equipment, sensors, motors, drives, and industrial networks.
