Description:

PrimeCare Medical is looking for a dedicated and hard-working Registered Nurse (RN) to work as the Psychiatric Nurse to work in the medical department at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in Annapolis, MD.


This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm. Offering $43.00- $46.00/hr.


Job Responsibilities:

The Psychiatric Nurse is responsible for coordinating and implementing the mental health program in accordance with NCCHC/ACA Standards and PCM policies and procedures.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as the mental health liaison between the medical unit, facility staff and PCM.
  • Serve as the PCM liaison for psychiatric/psychological services outside the facility.
  • Provide input to facility administrator regarding treatment response and progress reports on inmates/patients on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Facilitate admission and placement of inmates/patients in forensic and community Mental Health facilities.
  • Monitor all psychiatric/psychological clinical services provided.
  • Monitor and document treatment response of inmate/patients.
  • Ensure that complete, accurate, and timely entries are made for each inmate/patient contact.
  • Work in harmony with mental health agency and legal system.
  • Monitor the standards of care in accordance with NCCHC and accepted psychiatric/psychological standards. Assess mental health status of inmate/patients who have been referred by a primary treatment provider and review with the psychiatrist/psychologist.
  • All orders and re-orders of medications should be checked and verified to ensure inmate/patient does not have medication in the bin to fill the order.
  • Is a member of the Quality Assurance Committee and sub-committees. Assists in the establishment of Quality Assurance standards and audit criteria.
  • Serve as a member of various committees within the medical unit and facility as necessary.
  • Actively assist with the detection and prevention of inmate/patient suicide.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Any/all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or delegated.

  • Salaries are negotiable and commensurate based on experience. Hourly Rate is $43.00 - $46.00
  • Single and Family health care offered (i.e., medical / prescription / dental / vision).
  • Retirement benefits offered (i.e., 401k with discretionary company match).
  • Generous PTO package provided. Paid time off will accrue for a maximum accrual of nine (9) days (or 72 hours) per year. In addition, you will also receive six (6) floating holidays, pro-rated within your first year of employment as dictated by your effective hire date. You are also eligible to accrue sick and safe leave benefits under Maryland’s Healthy Working Families Act (i.e., MDSSL). MDSSL accrues at a rate of one (1) hour for every thirty (30) hours of straight time worked, for a maximum annual accrual of sixty-four (64) hours.
