Sr. Process Engineer – LSR / Rubber Molding

Lincolnshire, IL | Direct Hire | $100,000–$135,000

Are you an expert in Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR), High Consistency Rubber (HCR), or rubber/plastics molding?
We're looking for a Senior Process Engineer to lead the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of silicone and rubber molding processes. If you've built robust molding processes for LSR, HCR, silicone, rubber, or precision plastic components, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and optimize LSR injection molding processes
  • Improve HCR injection, compression, and transfer molding processes
  • Lead DOE studies to improve Cp/Cpk, reduce variation, and increase process capability
  • Optimize cycle times, reduce scrap, and improve OEE
  • Troubleshoot molding issues including:
    • Flash
    • Short shots
    • Cure variations
    • Knit lines
    • Voids
    • Dimensional variation
  • Establish standardized process parameters and work instructions
  • Lead root cause investigations using 5 Why, 8D, Fishbone, and other problem-solving tools
  • Support new product launches, mold qualifications, and production transfers
  • Partner with Tooling, Production, Quality, Maintenance, and NPI teams
  • Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Kaizen, SPC, and data analysis
What We're Looking For
Silicone/Rubber Molding Experience is Highly Preferred
We're specifically looking for engineers with hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
  • Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) injection molding
  • High Consistency Rubber (HCR) molding
  • Silicone molding
  • Rubber molding
  • Injection molding
  • Compression molding
  • Transfer molding
  • Precision plastics manufacturing
  • Medical silicone components
  • Industrial rubber products
  • Automotive rubber or plastic components
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, Polymer, Materials, or related Engineering
  • 5+ years of process engineering experience in silicone, rubber, or plastics manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Scientific molding
    • DOE
    • SPC
    • Process validation
    • APQP/PPAP (preferred)
    • GD&T and engineering drawings
  • Proven ability to solve complex molding and manufacturing challenges
Preferred Experience
  • Medical device manufacturing
  • Automotive, aerospace, or industrial products
  • Mold flow analysis
  • SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
  • Automation and vision inspection
  • Overmolding and multi-shot molding
  • RJG or Paulson certification
  • ISO 13485 or cleanroom manufacturing
