Job description

Eaton's ES GEIS BLD division is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift to join our team in Reno, NV! The hourly rate for this position is $34.20 + .50 shift differential per hour.
The core hours are 2:30 pm - 11 pm.

What you'll do:
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic and mechanical malfunctions on any plant machine, facility system or related equipment.
    • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs the following systems: PLC's, HMI's, VFD Drives, Vision Systems, Motor Control Centers, Power Distribution Centers, Motors (DC, AC, Stepper, Servo, etc.), Three Phase/Single Phase - power and control circuits, Control Panel layout and component installation.
  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on all production equipment.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with National Electric Code (NEC) codes.
    • Installing and repairing electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Install new and/or used manufacturing equipment.
  • Fabrication and machining as required to complete projects.
  • Operate lift trucks, man lifts and boom lifts to work in elevated locations.
  • Fabrication of various devices and mechanisms to improve, repair or replace that which is not operating properly or efficiently
  • Welding, prototyping, plumbing, painting, masonry, piping, and carpentry duties as necessary.
  • Support all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives.

Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • One of the following is required:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial and industrial electricity/maintenance
    • Technical school diploma from an accredited institution or an Associate's degree in Electronics or Commercial and Industrial Electrical systems.
  • Previous experience reading electrical/mechanical blueprints and schematics.
  • Previous experience with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management System) & SAP.
  • Microsoft office suite experience (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Experience operating a sit down and stand-up forklift

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of PLC (programmable logic controller) troubleshooting or programming experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the electrical field, in an industrial/ manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens Software to troubleshoot PLC's, HMI's, and Drives
  • Previous experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) logic circuit troubleshooting and corrective action
  • Journeyman Electrician Certified
  • Previous mechanical power press, roll forming, and sheet metal fabrication experience.
  • Previous gas Metal Arch Welding (GMAW) experience
  • Previous experience with NEC (National Electrical Code).

Skills:
  • Must be able to start on 1st shift for training purposes (orientation, onboarding training for 4-6 months).
  • Ability to interface with vendors to troubleshoot, setup and acquire parts for various types of machinery
  • Working knowledge of production machinery and equipment such as clutch/brake systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, compressed gas systems, water systems, & cooling systems

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand on feet continuously during working shift: kneeling, bending, and climbing with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to work at heights of up to 40 feet above the floor with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Able to regularly lift 50 pounds without assistance with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy and procedure
  • Exposure to high noise level (ear protection may be required in some areas)
  • Exposure to high traffic areas with forklift activity
  • Indoor and outdoor exposure to weather
  • Work environment exposes to oils, lubricants, and solvents
