Job description

POSITION: CCL Graduate Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Center for Cultural Liberation
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Black Student Initiatives, Center for Cultural Liberation
HOURS NEEDED PER WEEK: 15 - 20
HOURLY RATE: $17/hour
DATES OF EMPLOYMENT (APPROXIMATE): July 2026-May 2027
PRIMARY PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant (GA) of the Center for Cultural Liberation will provide direct assistance to the Associate Director(s) in the development, coordination, execution, and evaluation of the programs within the department. The GA will build relationships and collaborate with various university departments and community organizations with the goal of strengthening the CCL's programming offerings and effective reach. JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist the Assistant and Associate Director(s) of the Center for Cultural Liberation with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the CCL sponsored programs throughout the year.
  • Research best practices used at other universities as it relates to culturally-responsive programming.
  • Attend a range of meetings with staff, students, and other community stakeholders to assist with community building and strategic planning efforts.
  • Assist, organize, and coordinate undergraduate intern work in concert with the CCL mission and direction from the Associate Director(s).
  • Assist with programming and engagement with student cohorts connected with the CCL such as TheDream.US, Village, and Pillars.
  • Establish and maintain connections with other departments, while collaborating on joint efforts.
  • Assist in the coordination of student training, program assessment, and orientation, including team meetings and outings.
  • Represent the CCL during informational presentations and distribute general information about the center.
  • Serve on CCL planning committees.
  • Be in attendance and provide staffing for events as assigned by Assistant and Associate Directors.
  • Provide 15-20 hours a week of in-person office hours.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
  • Perform other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned.
