About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Gerber Automated Cutting Machine Operator to support upholstery furniture production. This role is responsible for operating computerized cutting systems to ensure precise, efficient cutting of fabrics and materials in alignment with production standards. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality and material optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor Gerber automated cutting machines for daily production
- Load, spread, and properly align upholstery fabrics, leather, and synthetic materials
- Execute and verify Gerber markers and cutting programs for accuracy
- Ensure correct fabric orientation, including grain direction, nap, and pattern alignment
- Monitor cutting performance to maintain high-quality output and consistency
- Inspect cut components for accuracy, defects, and completeness
- Maximize material utilization and minimize fabric waste
- Perform routine maintenance, including blade changes and basic troubleshooting
- Track production output and report any equipment or material issues
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant work environment
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Proven experience operating Gerber automated cutting systems
Strong understanding of upholstery materials, including fabric, leather, and synthetics
Ability to read and interpret Gerber markers, layouts, and production work orders
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and precision
Knowledge of safety practices related to automated cutting equipment
Experience in upholstery or soft furniture manufacturing preferred
Familiarity with Gerber AccuMark or similar CAD/marker software
Understanding of fabric properties such as grain, stretch, nap, and pattern matching
Basic mechanical aptitude for machine adjustments and troubleshooting
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts
Ability to lift and handle fabric rolls up to 75 lbs
