Financial Analyst


Permanent, Full-Time

Hiring Range: $62,094-$65,745

The College of Early Childhood Educators (the College) supports high-quality early learning and care by regulating more than 70,000 members of the profession in the public interest, pursuant to the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007. We are seeking a detail-oriented finance professional to support the College's financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, audit, payroll, benefits, accounts payable, and bookkeeping functions.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the key areas of responsibility are to:

  • Perform bookkeeping activities for the College.
  • Liaise with third-party provider to administer and process scheduled payroll runs. Prepare and process payroll entries and reconciliations.
  • Liaise with the third-party provider to process enrollments, terminations and other changes related to benefits plans.
  • Respond to and resolve with or without partner unit (HR) - pay and benefit-related inquiries and problems.
  • Provide support during the annual audit.
  • Support processing of member payments and transactions.
  • Investigate issues with member payments.
  • Provide updates to the Registration Department as required.
  • Prepare scheduled (e.g. monthly reconciliations) and ad-hoc (e.g. business cases, project budgets) financial reports to support the College's financial and accounting reporting requirements.
  • Assist the Finance Manager to provide advice and guidance to help Directors to prepare budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist the Finance Manager to develop long-term financial plans for the College and to identify and analyze the impact of changes to the College's financial position.
  • Keep up-to-date with applicable legislation, trends and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Four-year university program in Finance or Accounting
  • Enrolled in the Canadian Payroll Association program
  • 2 to 3 years' experience including technical experience with accounting, budgeting, payroll, financial reporting/analysis, and audit.
  • Current knowledge of Canadian financial reporting
  • Knowledge of accounting and payroll software, and office/administrative software (Microsoft Office).
  • Judgment, analytical, organizational skills and attention to detail to prepare accurate financial reports and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits
  • Self-directed and flexible to work well independently and in a team in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to seek clarification and/ or provide information about financial reporting and documentation, payroll and benefits.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of work (e.g. monthly reconciliations and reporting, payroll and benefits processing and changes).

Relevant du chef des finances, la personne titulaire du poste aura notamment les responsabilites suivantes :

  • Effectuer les activites de tenue de livres de l'Ordre.
  • Assurer la liaison avec le fournisseur tiers pour l'administration et le traitement des cycles de paie prevus. Preparer et traiter les ecritures de paie et les rapprochements.
  • Assurer la liaison avec le fournisseur tiers afin de traiter les adhesions, les cessations de couverture et les autres modifications liees aux regimes d'avantages sociaux.
  • Repondre aux demandes de renseignements et resoudre les problemes lies a la paie et aux avantages sociaux, avec ou sans la collaboration du service partenaire (RH).
  • Fournir un soutien dans le cadre de l'audit annuel.
  • Soutenir le traitement des paiements et des transactions des membres.
  • Examiner et resoudre les problemes lies aux paiements des membres.
  • Fournir des mises a jour au Service de l'inscription, au besoin.
  • Preparer des rapports financiers periodiques (p. ex., rapprochements mensuels) et ponctuels (p. ex., analyses de rentabilite, budgets de projets) afin de repondre aux exigences de l'Ordre en matiere de rapports financiers et comptables.
  • Aider le gestionnaire des finances a fournir des conseils et des orientations aux directions dans la preparation des budgets et des previsions.
  • Aider le gestionnaire des finances a elaborer les plans financiers a long terme de l'Ordre ainsi qu'a cerner et a analyser l'incidence des changements sur la situation financiere de l'Ordre.
  • Se tenir au courant de la legislation, des tendances et des pratiques applicables.
  • Effectuer toute autre tache assignee.


Qualifications

  • Diplome d'un programme universitaire de quatre ans en finance ou en comptabilite.
  • Etre inscrit(e) a un programme de l'Association canadienne de la paie.
  • De deux a trois ans d'experience, notamment une experience technique en comptabilite, en budgetisation, en paie, en production et analyse de rapports financiers et en audit.
  • Connaissance a jour des exigences canadiennes en matiere d'information financiere.
  • Connaissance des logiciels de comptabilite et de paie ainsi que des logiciels de bureautique et d'administration (Microsoft Office).
  • Jugement, capacite d'analyse, sens de l'organisation et souci du detail afin de preparer des rapports financiers exacts et d'assurer le traitement exact et en temps opportun des operations liees a la paie et aux avantages sociaux.
  • Autonomie et flexibilite permettant de travailler efficacement de facon independante et en equipe dans un environnement ou les priorites evoluent.
  • Excellentes aptitudes a communiquer oralement et par ecrit afin d'obtenir des precisions ou de fournir de l'information concernant les rapports et documents financiers, la paie et les avantages sociaux.
