About this Job Engineering Technician 1 - 4 District 61- Unit 170 - Baton Rouge - Water Resources At DOTD, our mission is to innovatively develop and sustain safe and reliable infrastructure comprising highways, multimodal transportation assets, micro-mobility systems, and public works. About this Job: The overall function of this position is responsible for assisting professional engineers in the performance of data collection, drainage concern resolution, drainage project preparation, program application review and permitting process work of the Water Resources Section.

These responsibilities include ensuring that all work is produced in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Regulatory and inspection activities for Water Resources, Public Works and Right of Way Permits are performed. This position is located in District 61/ 170/East Baton Rouge Parish of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Engineer 6, Water Resources Engineer.

The incumbent must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties many times with minimal supervision and be able to interpret unforeseen conditions as they may arise. The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks. Job Duties and Other Information Job duties: Work within the Water Resources Section to review and process various permits. Perform field visits to permit application sites to conduct pre and post construction inspections.

Respond to and investigate drainage complaints from elected officials, local municipalities, and the public. Assist the Water Resources Engineer with plan development, work reports, estimating quantities and engineering studies. Assist with emergency operations/disaster response.
