Job description

Range is creating AI-powered solutions to eliminate financial complexity for our members. We're transforming wealth management through the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and human expertise. We're obsessed with member experience! We've built an integrated platform that tackles the full spectrum of financial needs-investments, taxes, retirement planning, and estate management-all unified in one intuitive system.
Backed by Google's Gradient Ventures, Cathay Innovations, and Scale Venture Partners, we're in hyper-growth mode and looking for exceptional talent to join our starting lineup. Every Ranger at this stage is shaping our culture and way of life-from former CEOs and startup founders to experts from leading hedge funds and tech companies.
If you're ready to build something that truly matters in financial services, bring your talent to Range. Here, you'll make a genuine impact on how people manage their financial lives while working alongside a team that celebrates wins, makes big decisions, and blazes new trails together.
About the role
As a Senior Data Analyst at Range, you will be an analytical partner for teams across the business including member experience, planners, investments, finance and more. You'll sit embedded with those teams to understand their work deeply and turn their hardest questions into answers, dashboards and analyses that drive decisions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of fast turnaround and deep data work. You will find yourself answering Slack questions with quick SQL pulls, building dashboards for new initiatives and deep diving into the best ways to understand churn trends or customer journeys.
We're excited to hire this role at Range's Headquarters in McLean, VA. All of our positions follow an in-office schedule Monday through Friday, allowing you to collaborate directly with your team. If you're not currently based in the area, but love what you see, let's discuss relocation as part of your journey to joining us.
What you'll do with us
  • Be the analytical partners that business units rely on. Embed with the teams you support, learn their work deeply and become the person they come to when they need to understand what's happening or decide what to do next.
  • Deep dive the data that drives decisions. Investigate questions that don't have easy answers: why churn is rising in a specific cohort, what is the next best action for a member, etc. You'll frame the question, do the analysis and translate findings into actions.
  • Own the dashboards your business units run on. Build and maintain the dashboards the business units rely on for day-to-day decisions. Set the conventions for what's authoritative vs. exploratory within those teams, in line with the company-wide standards.
  • Handle ad hoc support and questions with judgment. Be the first point of contact when business teams need a quick answer, a pull, or a check on a number. Know which questions deserve a five-minute answer and which deserve a real investigation.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years of experience in a data-focused role (Data Analyst, Analytics, Data Science, or similar), including time embedded with business teams.
  • Advanced SQL. You can write a complex query without thinking about it and use it to answer the question that was asked, not just the question that was easy to query.
  • Comfort working in a modern data stack (dbt, a cloud warehouse, a BI tool like Sigma, Looker, or Tableau).
  • Strong analytical thinking. You can take an ambiguous business question, frame it, decide what data to look at, and turn the result into a recommendation.
  • A track record of communicating insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders. The best analysis doesn't matter if nobody acts on it.

What will set you apart
  • You're comfortable with Python for analyses that go beyond SQL - statistical work, hypothesis testing, anything that requires more than aggregations.
  • You leverage AI as a force multiplier in your own work. You've developed real instincts for when to lean on it, when to verify, and where it actually accelerates analysis, dashboarding, and communication.
Benefits
  • Health & Wellness: 100% employer-covered medical insurance for employees (75% for dependents), plus dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k): Retirement savings program to support your future
  • Paid Time Off: Dedicated time to reset and recharge plus most federal holidays
  • Parental Leave: Comprehensive leave policy for growing families
  • Meals: Select meals covered throughout the week
  • Fitness: Monthly movement stipend
  • Equity & Career Growth: Early exercise eligibility and a strong focus on professional development
  • Annual Compensation Reviews: Salary and equity refreshes based on performance
  • Boomerang Program: After two years at Range, you can take time away to start your own company. We'll hold your spot for 6 months - and pause your equity vesting, which resumes if you return

Range is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
