Their responsibilities typically include examining welds, verifying compliance with standards, and documenting inspection results. They may work in various industries such as construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas, and are often hired for projects that require flexible or short-term inspection services. The hourly basis allows companies to utilize their expertise as needed without long-term commitment. Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, inspection tools, and reporting systems is also essential. Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective communication help inspectors identify issues and collaborate with fabrication teams. These competencies ensure welding quality, safety compliance, and the integrity of construction or manufacturing projects.
