Job description

Commercial Sealant Installer / Caulker

About the Role

As a Sealant Installer / Caulker at Structural Glass Products (SGP), your primary responsibility will be installing high-performance sealants on commercial glazing systems and building envelope assemblies. You will work alongside experienced project managers, glaziers, and field personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This position also includes light commercial glazing service work such as glass replacement, hardware adjustments, and miscellaneous field repairs. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, detail-oriented, and willing to travel to job sites throughout Minnesota and surrounding states.

This is a field position requiring travel. Overnight travel is required based on project location and schedule.

Typical Schedule:

  • Field Start Time: 6:00–7:00 AM (Monday–Friday)
  • End time varies depending on project schedule
  • Overtime opportunities are available

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in commercial caulking, construction, glazing, or a related trade preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability and willingness to travel, including required overnight stays.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial glazing experience.
  • Experience installing silicone, polyurethane, and firestop sealants.
  • Knowledge of storefront, curtain wall, window, and entrance systems.
  • Experience operating boom lifts, scissor lifts, or forklifts.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification (preferred but not required).
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Install commercial-grade sealants on storefronts, curtain walls, windows, entrances, expansion joints, and other building envelope components.
  • Prepare surfaces to ensure proper sealant adhesion and long-lasting performance.
  • Remove and replace existing sealants as required.
  • Perform light commercial glazing service work, including glass replacement, hardware adjustments, sealant repairs, and miscellaneous field service tasks.
  • Read shop drawings and project specifications to ensure accurate installation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Work closely with project managers, glaziers, and customers to complete projects on schedule.
  • Travel to commercial job sites throughout Minnesota and surrounding states.
  • Overnight travel is required based on project location and schedule.
