Hourly BCBA trainees often encounter challenges such as balancing their fieldwork hours with other commitments, adapting to different client needs, and receiving consistent supervision. Building strong relationships with the clinical team and remaining adaptable will help trainees gain valuable experience and successfully complete their required hours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an hourly BCBA in training?

To thrive as an Hourly BCBA in training, you need a solid understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles, a relevant degree (usually in psychology or education), and enrollment in or completion of supervised fieldwork required for BCBA certification. Both trainings are essential in the behavior analysis field but serve different roles and certification paths.

What is hourly BCBA training?

Hourly BCBA training refers to supervised experience hours required for individuals pursuing certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Trainees work under the supervision of a qualified BCBA to develop skills in applied behavior analysis (ABA), gaining hands-on experience with clients and learning to implement evidence-based interventions. This training is typically structured in hourly increments, in accordance with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) requirements, and is essential for meeting eligibility to take the BCBA certification exam.

As a Proud Moments BCBA, you’ll be challenged to realize your professional potential. Key responsibilities as a BCBA include:

  • Utilize your expertise to develop and supervise the implementation of targeted interventions that change the lives of children with autism

  • Provide caring support during family conversations to ensure parents fully understand assessment results and treatment recommendations
  • Advocate for your clients by monitoring for potential issues and communicating concerns
  • Share your knowledge and experience through direct supervision, support, training, and orientation of our growing team of behavioral technicians
  • Physically keep up with clients as they move about the session area(s). This will require many physical activities including, but not limited to, standing, sitting, bending, lifting 25+ pounds, running, squatting, kneeling, and generally keeping pace with children from 2-15 years old

As an ideal BCBA candidate, you bring to Proud Moments ABA the following qualifications:

  • Ability to administer and interpret a variety of clinical assessments
