Job description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate General Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our esteemed surgical team in Chicago, IL. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive care to surgical patients, assisting in pre-operative assessments, intraoperative support, and postoperative management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough pre-operative evaluations, including history and physical examinations, to assess patient readiness for surgery.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for surgical patients.
  • Assist in surgical procedures as needed, providing direct patient care and ensuring a safe surgical environment.
  • Monitor patients during the postoperative period, manage pain, assess surgical sites, and address any complications.
  • Provide patient education regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and post-operative care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case discussions to enhance patient care and improve surgical outcomes.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Active NP license in the state of Illinois 
  • 1 to 2 years of general surgery experience (preferred)
  • Active DEA
