Job Description:
Flight Operations Technology & AI Intern - Fall 2026
RAVN Aerospace
Position Name: Flight Operations Technology & AI Intern - Fall 2026
Position Location: Salt Lake City, Utah (Hybrid/Remote Considered)
Salary/Hourly Rate: hourly
Schedule: Part-Time Internship | 10-20 Hours per Week
Term: Fall 2026 Semester
Company Summary
RAVN is pushing the boundaries of innovation in the aviation industry, focusing on cutting-edge technology and advanced aerospace solutions. As part of the RAVN team, you'll be at the forefront of revolutionizing pilot training on military-grade aircraft and aerospace engineering in the defense sector. RAVN provides combat and high-maneuver training for pilots, RDT&E, and maintenance services with its fully owned fleet of aircraft.
Department Summary
The RAVN Aerospace Flight Operations team supports the safe, efficient, and effective execution of tactical aviation operations. Working alongside experienced military fighter pilots, aerospace engineers, test professionals, maintainers, and operational leaders, the team coordinates the people, aircraft, resources, schedules, and information necessary to support military training, testing, and advanced aerospace programs.
As RAVN continues to grow, the Flight Operations team is focused on improving its processes, technology, data, and decision-making capabilities to create more efficient and scalable operations.
Position Summary
The Flight Operations Technology & AI Intern will support RAVN's Flight Operations team by helping design better processes, develop useful tools, automate repetitive work, and explore practical applications of artificial intelligence within real-world aviation operations. This is a hands-on internship designed for a motivated college or university student who enjoys understanding how systems and processes work and identifying better ways to accomplish operational tasks. The intern will have opportunities to take ideas from concept through prototype and, where practical, help deploy solutions into day-to-day operations.
Projects may include developing tools to improve flight scheduling, resource planning, pilot utilization, and operational reporting; automating manual processes; building dashboards and lightweight applications; organizing operational data; and evaluating practical applications of AI and generative AI.
This internship is intended to provide meaningful project experience rather than observation or routine administrative work. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build solutions that may directly influence how RAVN conducts its flight operations.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university degree program.

  • Strong technical aptitude, curiosity, initiative, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with Flight Operations personnel and other departments.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt as operational requirements change.

  • Availability to work approximately 10-20 hours per week during the Fall 2026 semester.

  • Familiarity with databases, APIs, workflow automation, or data visualization.

  • Familiarity with AI and generative AI tools and an interest in applying them to practical operational problems.

  • Experience developing dashboards, workflows, lightweight applications, or automation tools.

  • Interest in organizing and preparing operational data for analytics, forecasting, automation, and AI-enabled decision support.

  • Ability to map existing processes and identify opportunities to make them faster, simpler, and more scalable.

  • Interest in aviation, aerospace, military flight operations, or technology-driven operational environments.

  • Aviation experience is helpful but not required.

Physical Demands
  • Regular use of computers and other standard office equipment.

  • Regular use of hands and fingers to operate computers, tools, or controls.

  • Ability to work in an office and aviation operations environment.

  • Periodic work around aircraft, hangars, or other operational areas may be required.

  • Specific work hours will be determined by academic schedules and operational or departmental requirements.

  • The position is expected to require approximately 10-20 hours per week with flexibility around the intern's academic schedule.

  • The ideal candidate is located in the Salt Lake City area and can periodically work with the team in person. Strong candidates who can work remotely may also be considered.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Authorization
  • Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete an I-9 Form.
